We took a mini vacation (cheaper that way) and stopped in Fishtown, Michigan. An old town built on the waterfront. It was very cool to visit. We recommend the Cove resturant -Fresh fish and chips. Delicious.
That involved stringing and breaking them up. We saved a few seeds too while we were at it. Because of the drought and the groundhog we don't expect too many more beans out of the garden. I believe that varmit ate all our greasy beans.
In other wildlife news:
How can there be only two apples left in our whole apple tree? In order to answer that you would need to talk to the squirrel family. One day I looked and the whole tree had been wiped clean except for two apples. They will probably be gone before it's over.
I keep thinking about how if we had to live on what we grow -between the drought and varmits...well I would be a lot smaller...just saying.
I did can 6 pints of spaghetti sauce. I have not done this before so I believe I'll have to doctor it up when I make spaghetti. LOL

I love free stuff! I look through every free box i see at a yard sale as you never know what you will find. You picked up some neat items. Fresh fish and chips on your mini vacation sounds delicious. I love going to see places on the water. Varmints are the worst, but your beans look great. We couldn't have peach trees here for the squirrels eating them all, those stinkers! LOL

I love the free yard sale! Those doggone squirrels eat everything here. All pur plums were gone overnight in one night. They strip the tomato plants but only take one bite out of each tomato and then throw it down. It is so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteYep Lana they were doing our tomatoes like that too-I started picking them before they ripened and put them on the porch. That took care of that. Somehow I need to figure out how to outsmart everyone of them.

Sorry about the apples, I can't get the squirrels to eat apples here - I even cut up old ones and throw out - they won't eat them. Now the possums a racoons do at night.

DeleteYour lucky no pests this year. You know husband blamed a family of squirrels. A mom and two babies...umm maybe it was another varmint. Who knows but they are sneaky for sure.
