We have to get used to buying different groceries so we can spend some money somewhere else.Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Gardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03402367232977896594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-15263591851846323002022-11-06T07:14:31.548-05:002022-11-06T07:14:31.548-05:00Lettuce at Aldi here was $1.65, but they didn’t ha...Lettuce at Aldi here was $1.65, but they didn’t have any, so they substituted Romaine. It looks like they are out of Romaine this morning. I have changed the way we eat/buy groceries. You’ve probably read my post on the ten pound bag of chicken leg quarters. I would have given that to someone else before, but can’t afford to do that these days. We no longer buy beef roasts and haven’t for a few years due to the price.

I’ve been comparing prices for the same food. Right now for us canned carrots are cheaper than fresh. Potatoes are expensive right now, so we are doing without but making substitutions like rice. Sluggy mentioned that prices won’t go back down and this is the new normal. So, I’m being very conservative with the food we do have and making it stretch as far as I can. They are pretty tasteless. I bought a head of lettuce last week, looked pretty good on the outside, but when I cut into it it was full of rust. Got enough for two small salads but had to compost the rest. I've never returned produce to a store before but was tempted on this!Nancynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-83284113327895994012022-11-05T07:33:53.522-04:002022-11-05T07:33:53.522-04:00Yes that's it Practical.
