Just send all the rain to us here in drought stricken Australian regions. Oh the mud flying during tilling. Your crab apple tree looks so pretty in bloom too.

Our goals this week are to shred the tree branches we cut off the boundary trees to put as mulch around the fruit trees in the paddocks and set up the drip irrigation systems on the new above and below ground garden beds.

Our savings last week added up to $470.15 :).

In the kitchen-
- Cooked all meals and bread from scratch for the week.

Grocery stockpiling -
- With our $40 a month pantry building budget we purchased on really good specials 2 x small chocolates (for grocery shopping energy), 1 x box of special K, 11 x pkts of pasta and sauce,4 pkts of nice biscuits and 8 x 250 g blocks of Philadelphia cream cheese saving $34.70 on usual prices.

Purchases -
- Purchased 4 x 100 pk boxes of Panadol and 8 shave sticks on special saving $9.12 on usual prices.
- Saved up enough to buy all of our wool insulation batts for our ceiling cavity.
- Purchased a new laptop for myself on eBay since my last one's hard drive gave up the ghost saving $374.11 over buying an equivalent one in the shops.

Trading -
- Traded us digging fence post holes with our auger for 8 metres of rapid mesh we lined our trailer with saving $35.72 over buying it in the shops.

Internet listings -
- Listed 10 items on eBay using a free listing promotion saving $16.50 on usual listing fees.

In the gardens -
- DH finished tilling our 10 in-ground and above ground garden beds and we both removed barrow loads of soil ready for it to be amended with manures and put back in.
- I lined the bottom of each garden bed with weed mat, grass clippings, ride on lawnmower mulched autumn garden leaves and our vegetable scraps from the last week or so.

Hope everyone had an equally wonderful week :).

Sewingcreations15 (Lorna).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-33974605794932026582019-05-26T15:19:01.413-04:002019-05-26T15:19:01.413-04:00That would be so scary and worrisome getting jolte...That would be so scary and worrisome getting jolted awake like that. I pray that you will all never have to go and seek shelter in that basement. It is good though how prepared you are! I
I really need to divide and conquer my hostas like you are doing. One no rain day I'll do that. Stay safe.Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Gardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03402367232977896594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-49467473908326571682019-05-26T14:44:01.601-04:002019-05-26T14:44:01.601-04:00I've been following the Arkansas Army core of ...I've been following the Arkansas Army core of Engineers FB page closely. The Arkansas river is expected to break records this week. All that rain that keeps falling in Oklahoma & Kansas plus the snow melt from Colorado is all pouring into the Arkansas river.
We've also been having so many tornado warnings at night that everyone is exhausted. I've lost count of how many nights we've been jolted from sleep in the middle of the night by the tornado warning our phones. Though we haven't had to go to the basement at night yet....the adrenaline runs so high it takes forever to get back to sleep. We were so tired we decided to skip out on a funeral Friday morning to try to catch up on rest.

So this week I cooked most of our meals at home.

I used a $25 gift card for Rib Crib for supper last night.

DH has been cleaning out the basement garage a little at a time & discovering some treasures. Lots of canning jars & vases that I'm cleaning up. Some I will use & some I will pass on to my daughter-in-law's sister.

I've spent some time dividing perennials & filling some old containers from the garage for more plantings around my house. I'm planning to really get rid of some of the accumulated garden junk I have & try to seriously use what I love. The dilemma is that the more I plant the more I have to water in August!

I recycled some signs for my Sunday school classroom. I have a pretty Welcome banner that a friend helped me make a few years ago with her Cricut. The banner has pennants hanging on it with the boys' names. When I get a new student I let them write their name on a pennant & when they promote out I let them take their pennant. So we promoted this morning. I recycled some old pennants for the new boys by adding a layer of clean paper over the old names. They look nice & I used less of my cardstock stash.

I finally repaired a piece of door trim around my front door....something I have procrastinated on for years.
