It seems like we skipped fishing last year a lot.  There were just too many people at the lake and we decided to stay away.  This year we decided that we need that little getaway and yesterday we put our gear in the truck and traveled down the road (literally).

We watched as the boy expertly put his own bopper on and baited his hook.  He has always loved fishing.  Yep, proud grandparents.

Then, we had the biggest laugh when we watched the  girl push the button on the pole and pull it back then before we could do anything  let the whole Barbie pole go flying in the lake.  Oh, at the tears!   I hooked it with another pole and fished it out.  We finally caught something!

What we need is a gone fishing sign..I'll have to look for one.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend!  How's it going in your neck of the woods?

  1. So glad you had fun fishing again! Too funny about the pole, but glad you got it back. Don't think she is too sure about those worms. :)

    1. She loves worms and claimed this one as her own. We couldn't even use it as bait. It is dead now out on the porch LOL.

  2. How old were your grandkids when you started fishing with them? I really know nothing about how to fish on my own. I've been with my husband a few times....many, many years ago. But we live on a lake! I really should take my grandson fishing.

I'm cleaning out my oven today, puttering around cleaning & doing a little painting outside.

    1. I'm thinking she started with us around 4 or so. Probably went with us before that but played with the worms more. She still loves the worms.
Neither one of us get much fishing in because we are on the prep team for them, baiting their hooks, putting on boppers, helping them cast into the water, and digging poles out of the lake ha ha. So we were so happy to see the grandson get everything on his own this time without a bit of help. yeah..our work on earth is done LOL.
I puttered too much this morning..exhausted now for sure.

  3. Sounds like a wonderful day. Two of our grands go fishing with their other grandpa and really love it. We finally had some sunshine over the weekend to dry us out. I knew it had been wet but realized how wet when our pastor said he got his riding lawn mower stuck in the mud in his yard!

    1. Oh man you've had a lot of rain! Believe or not we dry as a bone. Rain is in the forecast Tuesday night.
I'm so glad that some of your grands love to go fishing. It's so good to spend time with them.

  4. I love fishing stories. My Daddy and I went fishing when I was a young girl. Precious memories of precious times with Daddy.

  5. The only thing I caught today was a little mouse. I really didn't want to kill it, but he was in my garage and I just wanted him gone. I'd been trying to catch him for 3 days. He was apparently too light to trip the first two traps, so my son-in-law went to the store and got one he was sure would work. It did.

  6. Hubby can't catch a fish unless grandsons do and hand him the pole. LOL
E just came over last night and asked if they could come fish the pond over Easter. Even though we are supposed to get SNOW Easter Monday.

    1. Yeah I have a feeling we will go back and forth on this weather for quite awhile.
I'm glad your grand boys love to fish too.
