We were draining the little pool so he could mow the lawn and I put them in the water. The water covered their pots and I left them in there overnight.

That is what Bailey does when one of her houseplants needs a good watering, stick it in a bigger bowl of water. It works every time. I'm glad it revived your hanging baskets!
