We had a cold and warm week day-by-day and here's what frugal fun we had:
*Found out we could buy the big bag of bunny shredded bedding in the back of the farm store with the feed products which is only 1/4th of the cost of buying the same thing in the front part of the store. I was grateful for the cashier pointing this out!
*Continued my quest of purchasing as few trashbags as possible by using another pet food bag this week.
*Got a load of books through the new inter-library loan program at our tiny local library. I got books on homemaking, organizing, hospitality, gluten-free cooking, building and growing in greenhouses, and finances. I feel like I have found a whole new way of doing research :)
*Came in a bit under budget in groceries last week and got a notification from the auto insurance that it has been lowered a few more dollars this month.
*More on my blog! https://www.cozyhomemaking.com/frugal-fun-homemaking-for-february-9-15-2020/Jenny Raithhttps://cozyhomemaking.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-11911415958151799562020-02-16T19:01:26.706-05:002020-02-16T19:01:26.706-05:00Sounds like a great week Kay! Thankfully, this year my son-in-law was able to take care of all that and also to install Windows 10 for me, so I saved at least $100 there. I had to have my heating and cooling guy out for a broken fan in an outside unit. What a wonderful blessing--he happened to have a used blade that he gave me, so that saved $100, because it was a smaller than average size and would have cost that much. I did well on eating up food in my refrigerator and freezer, so I didn't have to go grocery shopping. My daughter and other son-in-law did some work in my yard to prevent run-off from the rain, so I only had to pay for 2 loads of medium size river rocks for $300, but no labor. What a blessing! I did order out one meal from the Japanese steak house, but I divided it and made two meals from the one order. It was a treat!KayMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09972922396306756344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-7996341463768672702020-02-16T18:25:46.284-05:002020-02-16T18:25:46.284-05:00I haven't bought a shower curtain or liner for...I haven't bought a shower curtain or liner for years. Put my shower curtain and liner in the wash once a month with some towels. The liner can not be dried but I do dry my curtain. I couldn't live without magic eraser. My other go to is swiffer dusters, just the most wonderful cleaning tool ever.tealadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17233373939739704642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-9879540349433024482020-02-16T15:24:02.808-05:002020-02-16T15:24:02.808-05:00You and your husband Jenny are a great money savin...You and your husband Jenny are a great money saving team! A lot of hard work this past week for both of you.
I love the sounds of that Dayspring outlet...wish we had one. Have a great day.Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Gardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03402367232977896594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-58198888354153980192020-02-16T14:58:19.956-05:002020-02-16T14:58:19.956-05:00So my husband did more to save us money this week ...So my husband did more to save us money this week than I did. I've decided to list some of the things he does that many people pay to have done. Here's our list.

-I cooked most of our meals & packed all of our lunches. I ate out breakfast two different days because of my schedule (getting up at 4 AM to work is hard some days!) I made homemade lattes every day this week but two.

-I started working with a personal trainer (ugh!). It's free with our gym membership, which is really cheap through my husband's workplace. My dr had been pushing me to see a dietician for 6 months & I did not want to pay for one...so I'm hoping this will appease her. I'm keeping a food log & we'll go over my diet as well as work on some exercises. So I saved the cost of a dietician.

- I was gifted some beautiful flowers from my son & his family for Valentine's Day.

-I bought my husband's Valentine card at the Dayspring Outlet store for .99 instead of $10 at Walmart.

-Husband cleaned took apart & cleaned out the dishwasher. A regular maintenance job that I'm glad we don't have to pay someone for.

-Husband oiled the belts on my dryer to stop a very annoying squeak rather than call a repairman.

-Husband filled the car with gas & the tank didn't shut off...so gas poured down the side of the car. So he came home & washed the car rather than go through a carwash. (If you spill gas it will destroy the paint job so I always wash off drips)

-Husband fixed the engine light & the tire light on the car dashboard rather than pay for it to be serviced.

-Husband hauled rocks from our rock pile to fill in mud holes in our driveway.

-Husband trimmed trees in prep for mowing season, rather than call a tree trimmer.

-I've been cooking from my freezer quite a bit recently before the stored meat goes bad. I'm hoping to catch some good meat sales soon to restock.

Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00305409125105992525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-84947954303857598212020-02-16T12:37:49.542-05:002020-02-16T12:37:49.542-05:00You like me ..I love to eat out but not too much. ...You like me ..I love to eat out but not too much. I am ready to eat at home again! We earned about $27 back on iBotta. We also picked up a number of clearance items.Lanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09380649410508372279noreply@blogger.com
