I have been mainly concentrating on how-to blogs and books. My daughter and I finally bought our own little homestead (5 acres) a year ago and are slowly building it up. We are teaching ourselves many new things, so maybe this quarantine and forced slow down will give us the unexpected time to accomplish some of these tasks. Since I've only been able to concentrate on these type of articles, I've learned quite a bit. I just wish the time would have been provided under better circumstances.

Hope everyone and your loved ones stay safe and healthy. We can make it through this if we stay strong. I'll give it a go and see.
I've started writing a journal both here and my own of my thoughts of what's going on. I have done this before in hard times and then actually threw them away after everything calmed down. I didn't want to remember.
I love the thoughts of prayers Jenny. I haven...I don't think that's weird at all. I haven't been able to read a novel for a year or so now because our lives have been through so much chaos. So i started reading biographies. For some reason, reading real life stories has been easier to stick with. On days I just can't focus I force myself to focus through a few pages at least.

At the moment I'm reading 'Womenfolks' by Shirley Abbott. It's an 'old' book published in 1983. I picked it up at a local thrift shop a few months ago when I was browsing the .25 books. It's the story of women of the south...the authors family mainly but she goes back through history all the way to Scotland & Ireland. It's not in chronological order & the chapters on the Civil war almost made me quit reading. Her perspective is one I have never considered before for sure but it has made me think.

There is something about seeing a struggle from the past that others survived that seems to help me right now. History can show that it can always be much much worse than what we're living through.

Another thing I'm doing is writing scripture. I started a prayer journal (eye roll here because I really hate to journal) & I'm basically copying prayers & scripture into it a few days a week. I found some prayer prompts from lovinglifeathome.com & I downloaded them & am copying them slowly so I think through them. For some reason this has really helped me too.

I have noticed that I just cannot read digital books at all right now. I've always had a hard time with them but the extra effort I have to put into focusing on them is just not worth the pain. So I'm very glad I have a stockpile of very good books I've been wanting to read anyway.

Hang in there. I do still look forward to hearing how you're doing!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00305409125105992525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5623860601773162733.post-83963492869878109832020-04-04T11:48:03.260-04:002020-04-04T11:48:03.260-04:00We are exactly the same in this area Margie. I can usually get through a book in one day but right now I either can't concentrate or I fall asleep after 15 minutes! I have now found that non-fiction is a bit easier to deal with as I can dip in and out instead of having to concentrate on a plot. I'm hoping that will resolve itself soon.Margie from Torontohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10103835021764804099noreply@blogger.com
