Our Grocery Shopping "Find" of the Week 4/6/19!

We took our anniversary trip this last weekend and went south (more about that tomorrow).  We always buy things for the pantry that we have a hard time finding here.  One of them is Luck's pinto beans and the other was White Lilly self rising flour.  Oh, we can find them here sometimes, but it can be hard.   This way too we are stocked up and don't have to worry about it.  We bought 36 cans of Luck's beans for 75 cents a can and 2- 5 lb bags of White Lilly flour for $2.78 a bag.  I didn't buy too much flour because we just don't use it as much anymore.

Last year when we did this we were able to find the Luck's for 48 cents a can.  The price has went sky high but we bought them anyway.   I love to put about 4 cans in the crockpot and add a tablespoon full of  bacon grease.  I let them slow cook on high for about 4 hours.  It's a easy meal and no one can tell that the beans made are not made from scratch.

Besides buying these two we didn't do any grocery shopping this past week.

How did you do grocery shopping this week?  What great find or deal did you buy?

Luck's beans are the best! They still go on sale for 50 cents very often here and the website has coupons now so we watch and usually get them for .25 or so. Hubby told me last night that we have 13 can of pinto's on the shelf which means he thinks we have too many. And of course White Lily SR four has no substitute! There were no deals worth gong out for this week so we just made a stop at Aldi for necessities and spent $31. We will be in Florida later this month and there are some local products that we will bring home from there so I get it! When we are at the lake house only 2 hours from here we get a local made sausage that is only available in that county. Looking forward to hearing about your trip! Biltmore???

You were only an hour and 15 minutes from me! We have not been to Biltmore in years but ouch all those steps and my knee would not be happy! You came at a good time before it gets so crowded up there in the NC mountains.

Yes steps...knees hurt..bengay for both of us! I'm afraid the room will have to be aired out to get rid of that Bengal smell.

Hi Vickie and sorry for the late reply we have been busy running a craft stall at the local school fete for us and the RSL club. You did well on the beans and flour too :).

We only bought one thing being 5kg of citric acid that I use for cleaning around here as the smaller containers in the shopping centre cost a fortune :o .

By doing this we saved $133.66 over purchasing it in the smaller containers in the supermarkets for the same amount.

We will also split half for the RSL club as they use it for cleaning too if they want it after discussing it with them.

Have a great week :) .

Have a great week too Lorna

Hi Vickie we use citric acid to clean the toilets here and you can also use it for a lemon juice replacement too in jams and recipes as well.

Lorna, I think I've heard it used more on the cooking side and not so much on the cleaning part. I didn't know how helpful it was. Good to know!
