Frugal Friday, Organizing, and How We've Bought our Furniture 1/28/22

I've been cleaning and organizing the computer/sewing room/pantry this past week.  Yep, this past whole week.  I do a little each day.   I don't get overwhelmed that way and can continue doing what I need to in the rest of the house.  This also gives me time to be inspired.  Time to think about what will look nice or how to fit more stuff on each shelf.  Time to realize that I can quit buying soap for awhile.

Today, I'll be painting the trim by the doors that have started looking bad. Tomorrow I'll vacuum again and clean the carpet.  Although the carpet is old we will just leave it till another year or so.

That brings me to what started this whole room cleaning/organizing thing.  We bought a new (to us) desk at a estate sale a couple of weeks ago (please excuse the popcorn on the floor we had a movie watching party last night).

Estate sales are my favorite place to buy furniture.   While other people have been ordering furniture  and having to wait on delivery for a long time for new (I've heard 6 months to a year), we've bought what we have needed and wanted.

This past Fall, we also found our living room furniture at another estate sale.  The man had just bought his house and furnished it with all new stuff then passed away suddenly, I was told.  So, he barely had time to sit down on it.  Very sad.

Now, remember you have to haul it yourselves, so be prepared with a trailer or truck and help.  Listen, that couch was a trip to get through the window (true) but the desk had a bonus, it was assembled already!

If you need some furniture it pays to think of other ways to get it like estate sales, garage sales, or used furniture places.   You'll save money and time.

Another tip is to not get in a hurry.  Just slow down and look around, you will find just what you've been looking for at a great price!

What are the ways you saved this past week?

I have been thinking new furniture for a long while. It will not be brand new, as no one seems to make things I really like! I want color and all I find is neutral colors. There is a local 2nds shop that advertises some really nice things - I will check them out when it gets warmer.

You know I should have said that too..my style is most likely not your style but they have a lot to choice from. I think we need to get back to some color too Cheryl. My favorite furniture of all time was the wagon wheel old time couch. I loved the print fabric.
Having a great time when it's warmer shopping.
