Old Fashioned Meatloaf

Old Fashioned Meatloaf

A great family meal I remember from when I was a child was my Mother's Meatloaf.  I know if your anything like me, you too think your Mom's meatloaf is the best.   Unfortunately, Mom many times didn't follow a recipe so that left me to my own devices.   Over the years I've experimented till I came up with the one I think tasted most like hers!

Anytime I make this recipe it reminds me of the family dinners we used to have.   We would all sit down at the table and there would be bowls full of mashed potatoes, rolls, corn, and this Old Fashioned Meatloaf!

Printable Recipe

1 lb ground beef
3/4 cup quick oats
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten

Sauce to go on top

1/3 cup Ketchup
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. mustard

In large bowl add all of the meatloaf ingredients and mix thoroughly. Press the mixture firmly into pan.

In a small bowl add all of the sauce ingredients then spread this mixture on top of the meatloaf.  Bake at 350 for one hour or until done.   Broil just enough to brown the top.
