I decided to grow only the basic herbs I like this year and save garden space. In a burlap grow bag I planted rosemary, thyme, and lemon verbena.
We bought patio stones for the patio that we are making. We bought them all at Menard's during their 11 % off sale. We used the money we earned from the garage sale to buy them.
I didn't realize that they would weigh 43 lbs a piece. After stacking all of them ...let's just say we needed some pain relievers! I'll try not to think about making it for now.
We started planting our garden this weekend. With a frost predicted I just planted the cabbage and built the tee pees for the beans that are climbers on Friday night. It was 36 Saturday morning when I woke up. Warmed up great Saturday and I planted beans, zucchini, peppers, and marigolds. I will plant the rest this week.
I'm trying to ward off the gigantic rabbits we seen this winter around here with the marigolds. There will be more techniques I'm sure that I will try before the summer is over!
We were given leftover Swedish meatballs and chicken n dumplings from the church reunion potluck. We had them for dinner on Monday.
I was able to buy hamburger for $2.79 a pound last week. This is the cheapest we have seen it for awhile. So I bought 10 pounds of it. I cooked 5 pounds in the crock pot then froze it in to one pound bags. I also make up hamburger patties for the freezer.
I made up two pizzas on Friday -one for dinner and one for the freezer.
What ways have you saved this week?
