My Frugal Ways 11/1/15

My Frugal Ways -Vickie's Kitchen and Garden

Bought 2 children's books from our library book sale both for 10 cents and one at a garage sale for .50 cents.  Everyday in December until Christmas  I'm going to give books to the grandkids.

I will also be giving the book I received free with points from Tyndale Rewards, My Mama and Me. I want to go through and gather all the little craft supplies too that are needed with some of the stories. A small trip to my backyard and the dollar store should do it.  You can read my review of My Mama and Me here.

I answered a survey for Old Orchard Juice and won free juice. For answering the survey I received 1,000 points to use towards rewards.

We finally installed a digital thermostat.  We bought it at a garage sale still in the original packaging for $5.00.  Not yet sure if I like it.  The old one was just too easy.  On second thought that may be good.. it will not be so easy to change.

I bought a couple of rolls of netting at a garage sale for a $1.00  last summer.  I was hoping to use it for dish scrubbies. but it was more for weddings and would not work. I saved it back though for our sale this summer in my daughter's garage. I realized this week I could use it to decorate presents and rescued it. It pays to think twice about what items can be used for.

Fixed key fab-Vickie's Kitchen and Garden

This one I don't recommend, I'm just showing what my husband did to his truck key when the key fab broke by the key ring.  He got tired of putting it up on a shelf and grabbing it each time he needed it.   He decided then to put a hole near the very top corner of the key with a drill - away from the chip.  What scares me is instead of having a key made for $60.00 he probably would have had to pay a lot more to have a locksmith make a brand new key if his plan didn't work. The man is brave let me tell you...or lucky!  I think he enjoyed the risk (probably because it worked).  Again do this at your own risk.

What did you do this past week to save money?
