I never know how to start these posts -with the not too bad or with the good. I'm going with what I consider the not too bad. So here goes... we are expected to receive 12 inches of Late Winter Snow between tonight and tomorrow. We live in Michigan and these things happen...a lot.
You would think because I live here I would love the snow and go ski or something. I used to love it... till about 30 years ago. We went sledding, ice skating, skiing, and then came home with smiles on our faces. There was a pond that formed every year across the street in a field. We loved to shovel off the snow and go ice skating .
Sometimes we would all pack up and take our sleds to the local golf course hill. We could all fit on a toboggan and go down their toboggan slide. The slide was made out of wood and it would take you down the hill so fast you couldn't stop screaming! Getting back up the hill wasn't a problem either with the tires they had hooked together with ropes.
Then we would come home and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Let me tell you there is nothing like the hot chocolate made with the recipe from the back of the Hershey's Cocoa can....just saying.
Somewhere along the way though I began to start loving staying inside and waiting till it was over. I think it was about the time the kids got big enough to go on their own. I've since started to pass my time in the winter by crocheting and getting the house ready for Spring.
So you ask where is the blessing for me in all this? Well God gave us a pretty nice winter this year. Just yesterday we were enjoying signs of Spring. We have been for a least 4 or 5 days. The sun was out and the birds were chirping. It was warm ...between 40 and 60 degrees. We loved it.
I then looked down in my flower garden and saw the sprouts of tulips coming up. Such a hopeful sign that Spring really is coming and will be back soon! This is my blessing.
What ways are you counting your blessings so far this week?
