Frugal Tricks in the Kitchen: Use a Heating Pad to Help Rise Bread Dough

We hardly use the 80's heating pad that is stored away in the closet anymore. Well except for one thing, I use it to rise my bread dough. So when I got it out this past week when I was baking bread I thought that maybe some of you may not of heard of this neat and thrifty little trick.

When I first started rising my bread I would start the oven and heat it to warm. Although that is good way, it uses a lot of electricity to heat the big oven. I found this little trick to be both easy and frugal. I just place the bowl of dough covered with a wet dish towel on top of a heating pad that is put on high.  It rises quick and fast.   The big oven isn't heated up and my dough rises beautiful.   Give it a try!

How do you rise your bread dough?
