My Frugal Ways this Past Week 2/19/17!

Yesterday it was near 70 degrees here in our part of Michigan.   Spring has sprung in February.  The tulips are coming up in the flower garden and the birds are chirping wildly!    It's so good to open windows while we have the chance and get fresh air in.  My husband tells me I'm being negative but I feel a snowstorm coming up. Just a feeling.  Winter is not over yet.

Here are the ways I've saved this past week:

Used leftover steak we had in the freezer for the meat in stew.

Freezer is getting a little empty so I put in milk cartons filled with water in the gaps.  I made sure to reorganize and put the older meat up front.  We will find sales and fill it up again.
Peeled boiled eggs in a Pickle bologna jar.
I made pickled eggs in the pickle bologna jar

Sent off for a few free samples this past week.   I follow Money Saving Mom and the Coupon Pro Blog for most of them.

Made our own eyeglass cleaner.

Made a few freezer meals ahead, lasagna and a pizza.

The ways I've prepared my house this week:

Even though we have a keurig coffee maker  I wanted to keep regular coffee around in case the power went out. I found a deal for 2- 10 oz cans of coffee for $5.00 (I just paid shipping).

Our Menu this Past Week:

Monday           Meatloaf sandwiches

Tuesday           Pork Chops, baked potatoes, green beans

Wednesday      Stew  (used leftover steak and leftover green beans)

Thursday          Sauerkraut, sausage, and baked beans

Friday               Burritos

Saturday           Out to eat

Sunday              Roast, potatoes, and carrots.

My goals for next week:

In and around the Home:

Clean and clear out our bedroom closet.  This either takes the husband's help or I need to wait till he is not here.  😏

We took down the baby gate awhile ago and it left a small hole in the wall and baseboard.  I put the wood filler in yesterday.  Hope to sand and paint soon.

Blog:

Write a book review.  Next up is Troublesome Creek.  It's about the hills of Kentucky.   It sounds so good but I haven't been able to crack it open yet!   Can't wait!
