My Frugal Ways this Past Week 2/5/17!

Here are the ways I've saved this past week:

I made my first towel with crochet edging on it.   I just used a tutorial on a website I found.  This will go in my stash for Christmas presents.

Taking Annabel from Bluebirds are Nesting's advice I looked around the fabric store while I was there for things I could do myself.  I noticed that they had dishtowels just trimmed with lace and other edgings for $10.00. with a 30% discount.  I bought some trim (I only had light blue trim in my stash) with the 50 % discount I paid $3.99 for 1 1/2 yards.   I still have 1/2 yard left.  With the discounted towels I previously bought it was a great deal to make it myself.  My estimated cost $3.33 (I can't remember how much I spent on the dishtowel).

I did all this last night while battling with Smokie our cat.  He doesn't like it when you are not paying attention to him. He even unplugged the sewing machine three times as I was sewing.  I think he knew exactly how to get my attention!  It's so nice having an animal in the house again.

I bought a 6 pk of pint sized jars at Menards for $1.99 after rebate.

Cut my own bangs.

We have been saving our orange peels and letting them dry on the counter in a cookie sheet (no effort).  I made a scrub for the kitchen with them last week.

I watched a couple of free movies on Amazon Prime.

After our catch up grocery shopping trip after No Spend January we have set a $50.00 a week budget for groceries.  We spent about $100.00 last week getting things we needed.

Ways I've prepared my house this week:

I bought band aids and ointment for the medicine cabinet (Dollar General).

Our Menu from last week:

Monday            Pork chops, potatoes, and sauerkraut meal (made in pressure cooker)

Tuesday            Spaghetti, garlic bread

Wednesday        Baked Chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn.

Thursday           Out to eat (pizza)

Friday                Choice of Leftover baked chicken sandwiches or pizza

Saturday            Steak and potato

Sunday              Breakfast for dinner.  Eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast.

My goals for next week:

In and around the Home:

Clean under the refrigerator.  This is one of our most dreaded jobs but it's amazing what we find under there.

Clean the pots and pans drawer for the stove.

I plan on limiting my personal Facebook time everyday.   It will give me more time for other things I need to do and enjoy.  I'm not sure how much time I was spending but it was too much.

On going:  I have been working on putting pictures in my photo albums/scrapbooks.   I've found this will take some time.  I haven't done this in a couple of years.  It was so hard to look at pictures for awhile.
