Happy Father's Day!
Today I'm making my husband fried chicken, wilted lettuce, mashed potatoes, and cornbread for dinner. He is having a piece of the apple pie I made him for breakfast this morning. He will be one happy man!
Just like so many in the states our weather here in Michigan is very wild. In fact it's rained so much here that the garden I planted last week has standing water in it most of the time. I can't step in it for fear that I will sink up and will be stuck!
I'll replant the seeds if I have to whenever it stops raining and dries up (if they still have time to grow before the first frost).
Here are the ways I've saved this past week:
I signed up the grand kids and me for the summer reading program.
I forgot to say last week we sold an item. It took a couple of weeks to sell on Facebook but I kept bumping it up and finally it sold for the original price. So don't give up on your item too soon.
I bought strawberries for .99 a quart at Aldi's this past week. I bought 6 quarts. Topped with whipped cream the grandchildren think they have the greatest dessert.
I also bought the Kroger deals on Saturday: Baked beans for 99 cents, Kraft Mayo for $1.49, and Smoked sausage for $1.88. I bought 5 of each (that's the limit). How did you do grocery shopping?
In between the rains we went to a couple of garage and estate sales. My favorite find was some yarn that I paid $6.00 for. The big cotton yarn cone alone sells for $14.00 at Joanne's so I was very excited!
My goals for this next week:
Keep walking at night when the weather is good.
As a Amazon affiliate I earn a small percentage when you purchase items from one of my links (the item doesn't have to be what I have linked here). Thanks so much for helping to support Vickie's Kitchen and Garden!
