Here are the ways we saved this past week:
We picked up a pretty book shelf from the neighbor's curbside. I had a few things stored on the floor so this will become a small pantry.
We were late going garage sailing yesterday and people were getting ready to call it a day. I was given a free thermos and lunch bag for the grand daughter and he was given some motor oil so they could get rid of them.
The neighbor was mowing his lawn last night and I asked if he could just dump the clippings on the garden. He was glad to get rid of them (no pesticides used). I'm using it for mulch to help retain moisture and to help with the weeds. Eventually, some rain will come but right now all the storms are passing us by.
I've spotted tomatoes, cukes, squash, and zucchini on the vine in the last few days. The garden is starting to look so much better after the flood and I'm very hopeful there will be something to harvest!
I used the rain barrel water to water some of the plants last night.
I hung out clothes to dry many of the days last week. I just decided to take it easy yesterday though and used the dryer. I think I was frugalled out (I made up a new word)!
I made sun tea.
I made a turkey on Friday and we had a couple of meals from it. I froze the rest for use in future meals.
My goals for next week:
Starting cleaning up the wood pile. We had too much rain and we never got to this.
