Vacation Time!

Vacation Time!  We all had a wonderful time enjoying a couple days away and going up north.

I thought I could just blog up at the cabin that we stayed in for a few days.   I realized very soon though that was not going to work when I couldn't figure out how to put the pictures on the blog with my Kindle.   I really need to work on this problem and figure out how to do this.  Sorry I should have at least wrote where I was.

I finally gave up and decided to just enjoy the wonderful morning sunrise and sunset, the deer that I spotted in the yard, the kids having fun on the paddle boat, and the bonfire we had.  I think renting a cabin or camping in the woods is the best thing you can do for a couple of days with kids and hopefully we will do it again next year.

We visited Mackinac Island (pronounced Mackinaw) and went for a bike ride around the island.   The water is just so crystal clear.  It seemed like some people wanted to see how fast they could go on their bikes but we all wanted to just relax and enjoy the view.  We stopped and let the kids have fun on the rocky beaches, watch the butterflies fly by, sail boats bobble on the water, and just breathe.

We all went on a Sand dune ride on a sandy buggy.  It was a fun, windy, and wild ride!  I definitely have wild hair!

One question that was always on my mind how can people garden with that much sand everywhere.  I couldn't live there- ha ha.  They must use raised beds.

Then we were back to the city last night and a dentist appointment this morning.  Real Life.

I completely forgot, the city smells.

Looks like you had a great time! We bought our share of the lakehouse for exactly the reason you state and that is that it was a great place for the kids and now the grands.

They loved the loft in the cabin and thought it was the best thing ever. Their own hideaway. We all wanted to just live there. I think you were right about buying your share ..so worth it.
Have a great day!

I didn't realize you lived in the city? Or you were just there for your app? I hate going to town, let a lone the city.

It sounds like a glorious vacation. We've rented a cabin before & it's one of my favorite things to do. I'd love to rent a little house on a beach but it's always been way beyond our budget.

Yes we actually live in the suburbs on a acre..kind of like half city/half country living. We pass through the city on the way to our house...I really noticed that factory smell as we came through. Funny how you never notice it until you leave.

That would be so nice I think too to rent a little house on the beach. It would be like living in one of my books.
We halved the cost of the cabin with my oldest daughter so it made it much more doable for us.

Vickie, as someone who has very sandy soil, I can tell you that raised beds and container gardening is your friend!!!

Sounds like a fantastic vacation. After this past year living in a R.V., we are now renting and I love it, has anything a girl would want. We also will be renting a cabin for a week, next summer.I love the picture of you, you look so happy and relaxed.

Yes that would be the way to go Patsi. I think the farmers grow a lot of sugar beets and potatoes. Just the home gardener would have a big problem.

I'm glad you feel like you are at home now. I think a week would be great ..the grand kids wanted us just to buy the cabin!

Our kids had the basement all for them. We finally had to tell them no shooting pool before the parents are up. Pool balls waking me up can make me get up on can make me get up on the wrong side of the bed!
