Veggie Deal, Garden update: Miracles, Triplets, and Oddities!

I've been very impatient for my zucchini to start producing, so when I saw a little roadside table with vegetables I begged my husband to turn around.   They didn't have a price but asked for a donation.  Gosh, I really hate that, I never know what to give.  I  ended up giving them three dollars, I hope that was enough.

Of course, look what I found two days later.   Still though, I got a head start on my zucchini freezing and baking.

The garden is looking so good!  I'm going to call this my miracle garden.  After the flood I just wasn't sure how this garden would do.   I now just hope we have time for the bean harvest.  The rest of the veggies are doing great!

I have found about 15 spaghetti squash!

I'm going to have triplets!  I just love the clusters of tomatoes.  I also found five in a cluster (those were very small yet though).

Here is the oddity in the garden.  The corn grew only 2 foot tall and then tasseled.  Now, believe it or not, has corn growing on it.  I let you know how that turns out!

What great deals did you find at the grocery store this past week?

I still don't have a zucchini yet! Patiently waiting. Love that your garden is starting to take off - you had such a wait. Hope the corn works out. I have some growing that the squirrels planted and it has ears on it!

You don't? I thought for sure you would be ahead of me on that one. Squirrel corn...they did the hard work for you!

We didn't plan any zucchini this year. We have have lots of cucumbers though. My daughter is learning to ferment them. Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage, Laura

That sounds wonderful. I hope everyone loves her pickles. I'm afraid I'm like Aunt Bee and no one likes mine so we just eat them. Have a great night Laura.

Fantastic news about your garden and you are getting produce. When all looked grim it came through for you in the end.

Corn will survive heavy wet periods I found too but sometimes they do develop a type of fungi on them that bulges the corn cobs and ruins them. Hopefully yours will be fine if the wet weather has cleared up.

We still have to put heavy duty chicken wire around the garden enclosure from the roof to the ground as the resident swamp wallaby jumps the property fences and loves digging in the garden. Much cheaper to fence the gardens off. Soon we will be ready to plant once the weather warms a bit.

We are so excited about the garden Lorna! We are blessed indeed.
Oh wallaby's sound so cute but I guess they are a menace! I'm glad your fencing it in. It's certainly not cute when they eat your garden!
