My Grocery Shopping Deal for this Week 9/7/19!

We stopped by a farm stand today and found a great deal on corn.  The farmer sold us a bushel of "day old corn" he called it, for $8.00 (I counted approximately 72 ears)!  I also bought a huge cabbage for a $1.00 and 4 peppers for a $1.00.   So exciting!

So tomorrow I will freeze the 2 day old corn!   Ha ha!

How did you do grocery shopping this week?

Hi Vickie and you did so well on the corn that is a super price and so is the price for the cabbage and peppers :).

We got some bargains too being -

- Found skin on thigh cutlet fillets on 1/2 price clearance at Woolworths for $3 a kilo and purchased 3.352 kg (these have less bone than drumsticks). On special we also purchased a 2 lt chocolate milk and all up savings on the chicken and milk on usual prices was $10.91. We are trying to stock up our meat freezer with preferably all 50% of more meats and gradually stocking as we are using items.
- We found one large capsicum (pepper) on clearance also for .80c saving $1.83 on usual prices. These are running out at $7.90 per kilo in the supermarkets. Thank goodness we are getting our gardens planted for spring.

The price of meat has just jumped to extraordinarily high prices here with the droughts and previous floods here. I saw that chicken drumsticks went up to $4.50 - $5 kg here and mince is $10 kg and sausages now $5.56 kg.

Have a great week ahead everyone :).

great deals! I've seen peppers here that high too Lorna. My peppers didn't grow as well with the rain ..I probably should have bought more.
Oh those meat prices are really high. I hope everything gets better soon.

Wow, that is great! Cabbage has been crazy expensive here and when I ordered groceries with my Mom for delivery her price at Aldi in Florida was $2.89 a head! She said they could keep it! We got a number of good prices on stock up items but I cannot recall details.

I love this man's farm Lana! His prices were just like last year's. He said everything did well except the honey rocks (melons) and he lost 225 plants in the last flood we had. I hope he keeps farming!
I'm glad you got some great deals!
