How is it going to work? Schools are closed here in Michigan on Monday for 3 weeks but many of them went ahead and closed today. There are so many questions. For instance, how will this teleschool work, how will the kids who depend on meals from the schools get fed, and I'm sure many people are questioning who is going to watch our children? We have been called up for duty and I'm so glad we can help. I know that many other grandparents will be helping also at this time. I'm so glad we live here and can be there for them.
I'm afraid that the only blogging I might have time and energy for is on the free kindle book post. I always do these posts early in the morning before the chaos begins for the day. So, if that doesn't bother you guys too much, I'll write what's happening on these posts. This will be like my diary during this crisis and it will probably be just a paragraph or two each day. Weekends will be spent getting things done that we couldn't get done during the week and resting. I recently have figured out that at near 60 I'm elderly!
So without further ado- I planted four small trays of vegetable seeds and put them in my little greenhouse. I'm trying to keep them warm by a little light on each side that is battery operated. Well, wouldn't you know it, the temperature dipped down last night and there is a cold wind blowing. So, we will see what temperature it is when it the sun comes up.
I also went and picked up my grocery order at Meijer this morning. This is my first time for Meijer pickup and it worked out great. The parking lot was getting full at 530 in the morning. If you need anything, to avoid crowds, I loved ordering and you might to. So, before anyone says anything, these children will need food at Grandmas house and I needed to buy what they like. Part of my small order ($38.00) was 6 jars of spaghetti sauce because I see a lot of spaghetti meals in our future LOL. Prego was on sale for 10 for $10 with the 11th free. So, under a $1.00 a jar. Don't worry I always have plenty of TP under my bed!
FYI: There are now 12 cases of the virus in Michigan.

Our daughter whose family are missionaries in Europe is begging us to stay home. She said she sees America where they were just a few weeks ago and that it is going to get bad before we know it. They took it lightly a few weeks ago too.
I'm like your daughter we all probably better stay around home. It's better to stay away from big crowds. I have heard on different sites we have 10 days. Not sure how they know that but it is serious for sure.
Thanks for the blog and books. Yes,I think this new way of life is gonna be a new challenge for all but we can do our part and get thru it.Love that spring is coming soon and that will brighten the day. We have no little's to care for at this time so its easier to stick to a routine. We are at the stage where it might get worse before it gets better for awhile.
In Ohio, our K-12 schools on 3 wks spring break (only child needing care is great grandson and his great grandparents on the other side live with in a mile of so of him, so that's covered) Colleges are on internet with no in person classes. Ban on any groups 100 plus in one room. Factories, retail etc not included YET.
Daughter 4 didn't think to get TP and now can't find any and she is down to her last roll. Driving 4 hrs round trip to get some from us. I am going to blog about why TP is in high demand.
Yes I think we are at that stage too...hope it gets over soon. We are having sunshine today so your right that brightens the mood.
I think the factories have to be next. It's like a very large gathering in there. I'll come read your blog.
I am nervous about my husband who has juvenile diabetes. And I'm nervous about our kids...my husband, son & daughter-in-law all work at the same factory...a Little Debbie bakery. I would think anyone who processes food needs to keep working to keep the stores stocked.
I do have a stocked pantry, I've always tried to keep one. I took some time to really think about what my diabetic husband can eat. Normally we eat all fresh with me shopping once a week. So I've tried to store basics & hope I have enough.
The last I heard we have 2 cases here in Arkansas. I'm honestly not to worried about the virus itself. I'm more worried about how crazy people are. My son & husband have talked about & planned in case they're all off work for a month. We have no debt so my husband & I would be fine but our kids have a mortgage. I don't know what people will do if that happens.
Thank you for the books! I'm glad you'll get some time with your grandkids and what a blessing for you to be available during this trial. Our younger daughter who is in 8th grade homeschools so we won't have to worry about school closing down. We just had the 1st case in our general area of MO last night so I'm sure the shut downs are coming to our immediate area soon. We already stay home a LOT and don't plan to change that anytime soon. The one change my mom and I might make is to go to ordering for Walmart pickup exclusively instead of going to ALDI. Those are our only two choices of cheap groceries in our area, although the Walmart ordering would price it a bit higher for me. Thankfully my husband doesn't work in a crowd so we don't anticipate his work coming to a halt. We're in prayer not only for our community but the entire world!
In a similar situation here in Mn re grandchildren. We are well stocked up. I found tp at Family Dollar today, btw. Hubby and I are both immune compromised, and right now he has ordinary pneumonia and I have a broken shoulder, so we are sure not going much of anywhere.
They announced our state’s first case this morning In Montgomery and we live about 20 miles from there. I was there yesterday for one pickup. I hope it wasn’t near where we stopped. I am a very senior citizen and have been limiting my exposure for quite a while due to health issues. Now I will be staying at home mostly. I live in the country any way. It is an effort to get out at any time. I wish you well and much energy the next month. I hope you have board games and a puzzle or two.
It wonderful that you can take care of your grandchildren, while they are out of school. It does take a lot out of a person, though, so I understand why you might need to cut back on your blogging! I'm much older than you--73 and today I picked up my great-grandson from day care and kept him for 2 hours. It was fun, but exhausting. He's a 2 1/2 year old bundle of energy! Kids are amazing!

I'll tell it's been crazy here since they called off school. I'll tell some of that in the morning. They drive crazy too..
I hope there will be some kind of loan late payment forgiveness.

Oh no! I hope you both feel better soon. I love family dollar and general dollar. You can get a lot of groceries at both of them. I think people forget about that.
I think your smart to watch it Peggy. I believe social distancing for a little while will help keep this virus from spreading so much. I pray that it does.

I did Kroger's pickup today, trying to avoid crowds. Glad you are able to help with grandkids. I know that is a blessing. I'm in Va, and we have 30 cases. Colleges around us are going to online classes including my son's college. Schools are closing too for 2 weeks with online lessons. If students don't have internet, buses will pickup the kids Chromebooks and download lessons, sanitize and deliver along with meals for those on free lunch. I'm impressed that the state and county seems better prepared than the fed govt.
One of the people that my husband works with has had pneumonia but hasn't been able to be tested. It would be nice to know if my husband and others have been exposed.
Your world sounds like mine and it will be something to get used to. I'm not sure I want to get used to it though. It's terrible your husband's co-worker can't get tested...I hope he is able to soon for everyone's peace of mind.
