Quiet

It seems quieter in my neighborhood since this has been going on. Do you notice the quiet? People are heeding the call I think and hunkering down.  It came a skip a snow on Sunday morning but by the afternoon it had warmed up and the grand kids were over. playing in the backyard.  I loved the sound of laughter and watching how happy they were.  It was quiet no more.   That wonderful distraction for a few hours just lifted my spirits!

I get out in the back yard a lot and have pulled up weeds around the compost bin and little patio.  I think my yard will look very nice when this emergency is over.  I'm also working on the greenhouse heating situation. I'm beginning to realize it takes a lot of monitoring with the weather changing so quickly.

Eating out

It's really hard to stop a man who needs a Big john's steak and onion.  Steak, onions, and mushrooms on a sub roll must have been something he was dreaming about.  I told him that I really didn't want to eat out but he said we should in case we couldn't get out for awhile.  His heart and stomach was set on it, so we did.  He even had his coupons ready.  We used the drive through.

Some of our eateries here have gone to drive through only and the pizza place will leave your delivery in front of your door.

If you want to, leave a comment and let  me  know how everything is  going  in your neck of the woods.

HI Vicky and I am glad things are quieter there for you since all of this panic has occurred :).

We are also working in the gardens getting ready to plant our winter season vegetables. Today we weeded the gardens and built up some of them in height with more soil as they are in a lower spot in the yard. Two are now built up and just one more to go and we can plant some more seeds and garlic.

Our yard has never looked so tidy either and we are getting far more deep cleaning done inside the home too.

Have a wonderfully frugal week ahead :).

It's so good to hear from you Lorna. I wondered how your side of the world was doing. I can just imagine both of us working in the garden at the same time. I know one of us would be in the dark though ha ha! You have a wonderful frugal week as well!

It is really quiet here too. We live a mile from a 6 lane interstate and there is always a background hum of traffic here. That is gone. I have listened for it in the night and can't here it right now. We also live under the airport traffic and that has really almost stopped along with almost no traffic in and out of our neighborhood. AT night we hear a lot of trains because we live ten miles from an inland port. Once again way down. It feels very much like 9-11. In so many ways it is nice but it also means bad things for the economy. I am thankful to know where my hope lies and that He knows and cares.

I am with your husband. Everything from out sounds so yummy now that we are confined to home. I woke up this morning just wanting Chick fil A!

This is a funny but I figured if I am going to be home for weeks I am going to be comfy. I got online and ordered sport bras and stretchy pants!

Your noises are mine...there used to be a 530 am train..it doesn't run anymore..no planes except every once in awhile I hear a private one, expressway seems to be less traffic too.

I'm sure if there was a chick fill a he would want on of those too!

Lana I think if I keep rolling like this I'll need smaller pants...mine are starting to fall down! Comfy pants may be just what I need with elastic waist. this has been a good diet plan.

I'm not sure if it's quieter here since we're so rural and removed, but I did notice attendance was a bit low at church yesterday. We've had a very relaxed week. DH started a new construction job and it's going well and not too far from home so saving a bit of gas money for the next couple of weeks. I ride to town for errands with my mom since I can't drive right now with my eyesight issues, and we only did 1 trip to the far away shopping town and one trip to the tiny local community for a library visit. We're very blessed to have a fabulous, albeit small, library so close to home. My 14yo homeschooling daughter volunteers there each week so we also do our book drop off and pick up at that time. I ordered new-to-me books from there for the inter-library loan so will have more books next week. I cleaned off my bookshelves and took a box of books to set outside the library in the hallway of the community center. Most of the books disappeared on voting day as that's also the voting location for our area. My husband and I did make the trip there before he went to work Tuesday morning and voted. I have mentally earmarked working in the voting area for a future job that's close to home and not every day if it comes to that.

I ended up getting 201 Swagbucks one day this week and it occurred to me that if I did that each day, I could buy ALL of our household and health/beauty stuff, along with part of our groceries, just from Swagbucks points. So now I've set a goal to hit that each day. Since I'm not working right now, this isn't a waste of time in my opinion. I mostly did it last night while watching TV with my husband. I did meet the goal for today as well.

I planted tomato and pepper seeds this week. There were 5 different varieties of tomatoes, two of which were free packets, and I only did 1 variety of sweet peppers. I used leftover seed starting mix from last year and saved food containers like mushroom, lettuce and strawberry containers. If I end up with a big germination rate, then I can share or maybe even sell the extra seedlings.

I tried two homemade items this week, a bleach alternative and a shampoo for thin hair, and thought both of them worked well enough to forego buying the store bought items.

I feel like we are the only two people on the planet, hubby and I. Just hope I don't see any walking dead. This is starting to get to me, living in an apartment complex of 300 apartments and no noise. Hubby wants to go out for steak this week and I really want to go but I'm a little scared. Normally I don't panic but this is getting so out of control. I took 5 of the e-books, should keep me busy for a day or two. Praying everyone stays safe.

Thankyou for the laugh (walking dead). In Michigan, as of yesterday, we can no longer go for a sit down dinner or if anyone wanted to, a bar. Take out only. I think there so much news is coming at us it is easy to panic. Husband was gone to an appointment so I turned on the radio and listen to gospel music. I've decided news two times a day and no more.

Swagbucks are great and I think it's neat that your working so hard at it. Way to go Jenny!
I love libraries too -they are such a valuable resource, but I believe they have closed ours if I'm not mistaken. I'll look into it.
Stay well Jenny, I'll be by your blog soon.

One happy thing I witnessed several times today. Looking out my front window, I saw parents who are usually at work or doing something else were outside playing ball and other games with their children. I could hear the laughter of children and parents. What glorious sights and sounds! :-)

A child's laughter just makes everyone happy- the cares of this world go away! I love that!
