So,I sat thinking yesterday where I could find more food (junk) and it hit me there was some in the van! When Grandma and Grandpa take and pickup grandkids to and from school, you need food ready. Nothing makes a cranky kid happy fast is something to sweet to eat. I was so happy to find more! I think that's it though, I've exhausted my stash.
Don't cry over spilled milk!
The moans that have come out of my kitchen lately! Yep, working in the kitchen has brought some mishaps. I've burnt a pan (it's soaking in the sink), spilled dry milk. and turned over the sweetener bag. Oh I have also broken two glasses and a cup!
You would think I'm a nervous sort with the virus that we are having, but really it's nothing new. I've been doing this all my life. It's just that I'm realizing just how clumsy I am. That sweetener we use is in short supply, that dry milk was a little costly, and I'm so glad we have a stash of glasses and coffee cups because we are going to need them!
I'll try to be more careful and slow down but I just can't take the time to cry over spilled milk. I've got too much to do. What about you?

We must be the mishap sisters because that is my life too. Some days my hands just drop things without warning and it is frustrating! The war time cookbook looks interesting!
Oh good I'm not the only one that drops things Lana! Good to have a sister in my mishaps!
I got the wartime cookbook too. Might give us a boost to read how hard they had it then.
Oh it is painful to waste food right now. I am doing my best to use every single bite. I found an orange that had gone bad in the bottom of the fruit bowl this morning....ugh..it had ruined a second orange & part of an apple. I can still use half the apple but two oranges tossed. :( My husband says instead of using the fruit bowl I should line them up on the counter so I can choose the one needs to be eaten first more easily.
My daughter-in-law is doing a Walmart pick up this week so I'll get another bag of apples but I'll skip the oranges this time.
My grandson is a food waster too but aren't all toddlers? You fix them something, they pick & drool over it & won't eat it or spill it or let the dog have it. I am giving him just a small bit at a time & making him ask me for more.
For the most part though we aren't wasting too much food. It's something I've tried to work on in the past year or so anyway so I'm better at using things up & planning than I used to be.
Looks like tasty goodies.
I have the dropsies sometimes too although lately the cats have done the breaking.
Thanks for the books. Looking forward to the war time book since I find it fascinating how they were able to make do.
The food waste is very upsetting for sure. Isn't it something how you started working on reduces your food waste already. It was a great thing to stsrt. those grandkids are so much fun!
Husband loves oranges..we keep part of them in the fridge. Our good neighbor told me that at our Wal-Mart they are wanting $7.00 a bag right now ..I think after this he is done.
Have a good day.
Those cats love to see things fall! Have a great read.
I know in my family being clumsy is normal, both my sister and are I are well into our 50's and we both have skinned knee's and messy kitchen floors, it's even worse when we are together. Oh, one of my biggest pet peeves is wasting food, I'm the only one in my house who eats leftovers. If we have a lot of leftovers I freeze them in meal portions. When my in-laws were alive a few times a week I would bring them meals, they loved it because other wise they are T.V. dinners, We had to turn the gas off of the stove because she would forget things. So no waste in my house. Love the book selection today, took them all.
Things are definitely different and strange right now. Scary times. I am thankful for God's love and comfort.
My aunt bought me The Secret Garden when I was 10 for my birthday.
I got Foods that will win the war... AND garden for victory, cooking through the decades (1920-1940), The postage stamp vegetable garden, Eating for Victory, Cooking on the home front... Might last me a week LOL
You always make me feel so good about the book picks. Thanks and your welcome tealady!
I bought some meal sized freezer meal trays awhile back and they are the best things.
They are sound wonderful Chef! You will be busy reading and learning this week. Love that!
Me too...what would do without the comfort of our Lord. Have a great night Melissa.
