Shopping:
Let me tell you it was some crazy shopping in some places yesterday. Long lines at Costco, aisles cleared at Meijer, and parking lot full of crazy drivers. I drove by the local Meijer on my way to my daughters to get the grand children and the parking lot was full to the brim. Kind of like a Black Friday scenario.
My daughter heard from one woman that there was no milk left at that Meijers about 2 p.m. yesterday. She also told me that there was milk at the Kroger just outside of town but no chicken breasts were to be seen. I even heard tell of a fight over cans of tomato soup. It was just crazy out there people.
If you worried about how much toilet paper you have I watched the funniest you tube video at MIgardener, 10 Plants You Can Grow That Make GREAT Toilet Paper Substitutes! It was funny but yet I found myself saying that's a good idea, ha ha! We all need a smile.
Pigs in a blanket:
I decided just to let yesterday be a relaxing day and not start any school work until Monday. Sunday I will be going over everything with their Mother so I'll know what to do. It won't be all school work but we got to keep up. So, they really enjoyed the day yesterday at Grandmas but come Monday it won't be all play.
I fed them pigs in a blanket, corn, and mashed potatoes for lunch. I had to reassure the youngest that pigs in a blanket was just a hotdog wrapped up in a crescent roll. Her imagination kind of went a little wild with that pigs in a blanket description. I was frugal and used the extra hot dogs I saved in the freezer from last week.
FYI: 25 people have tested positive for the virus as of this morning in Michigan. We more than doubled overnight. One reportedly was a physician at a hospital in Saginaw. They are on the front lines of this pandemic and working hard. I can't thank them enough and I'm praying they all stay well.
If you want to, leave a comment and let me know how everything is going in your neck of the woods.

We shopped at Aldi on Wednesday and the shelves were fully stocked and they even had TP. I feel like we can go a week or more before we go back out. We know that Wed is the slowest day at our Aldi so we will try to stick to that day. We were very well stocked before this so we really will only need to restock perishables.
I live in Western PA and only 1 cases south of us but a lot more on the Eastern side of PA. Went to Costco on Thursday and my husband stood in line for 15 minutes to get toilet paper and sat in line 20 to check out. Most of us were laughing because unless you see it, you can't believe this. Did get a couple of people who thought everyone was out of their mind, so stay home. I think a lot of grandparents are going to be helping out in the next couple of months.
Who would have ever thought in our lifetime Cheryl we would experience this? I'm glad you got what you need. I think you are right that a lot of grandparents will be helping out.
Like you, I know we will want to go back out to get fresh fruit and milk when they restock. I hope we are able to.
I didn't check ALdi's I wonder how they are. You know I think it was mostly over schools and universities closing plus our count going up. It really brought it home to a lot of people that this is real.
Aww how sweet that your grand daughter was concerned about the pigs in blankets. They look yummy and I'm sure they enjoyed them. You are a good grandma.
Hoping I can avoid shopping for a while. I don't know if we have had any shortages yet but I think I can make do for a while.
Have a restful weekend
Had to go out to the city this morning for dd’s school supplies. . .The Walmart and DG stores still had supplies. Just checking to see how things were. Crowds weren’t bad, typical Saturday morn. God bless grands as they are gonna be expected to stay stocked for the littles, and we will as they know. Thanks for the books as always. We can use them..
I don't blame you Kathy, i'm done too! I think we can make do for awhile. We just have now what we have and were good. You have a great weekend too.
I bet the dollar General is good down the road too. I think people forget those little stores. We just now went passed the same Meijer..parking lot looked like yesterday. I wish it was better here.
The tp thing really is crazy. I keep a deep pantry anyway so we're good. I did a little extra shopping in the last few weeks so I didn't deal with the craziness of the last few days thankfully.
My husband could not get his V-Go patches that he wears as a diabetic...it's a little manual patch that he replaces once day. It gives a constant drip of insulin to his system. So he had to go our & buy syringes & a different kind of insulin & has gone back to taking 2 to 4 shots a day instead. After all of that...our pharmacist found two boxes of V-Go patches. He called & told us he'd found some from the company rep so we were able to go pick it up for free! (They are $300 a box over the counter, we pay anywhere from $40 to $100 a box depending on what kind of coupon we can find)So he has a box of patches but needs to use the insulin he bought before it expires. No big deal really just the head ache of switching back & forth & keeping up with it all.
Our son &his family came over to celebrate my husband's birthday last night. We cooked ribeye. My daughter-in-law brought some yummy cupcakes & cookies(she has her own buisness) we played apples to apples while our 2 yr old grandson played so sweetly around us. It was a fun evening together. I think if we get quarantined I will plan some game nights. We have quite a few that we love to play.
I have been in and out of the hospital the past two weeks, but I take anti-rejection meds for my kidney transplant of 13 years, luckily I only have a common cold that has lasted over 2 months. I asked to be let home because I think I may have gotten sicker. I know I will be staying in a lot but thanks to you Vickie I have plenty of e-books to read.My husband goes to our local Festival Foods often and he said that it hasn't been to bad. It pays to always be a little bit prepared. Hope everyone stays well.
Those colds can linger ..I hope you feel better soon. I know I would want to stay home too. I'm glad your finding things to read from my list.
I'm glad your area did have the mass chaos we did! Stay safe and be well.
oh my goodness Jenny..we are running into many different issues. To think people are worried about tp.
I love the sound of your small party. I've never played apples to apples but it sounds like a great deal of fun. Happy Birthday to your husband!
It has been a bit hectic here. Our schools are closed for two weeks, but order of the Governor. Virus is in the state, but not our area. I went to two stores Friday evening to do weekly shopping and both were out of tp, bread, and meat. One was out of paper towels and the other was almost out. Crazy!
I did see a meme the other day that made me chuckle. It said "If you need 141 rolls of toilet paper to get through the next 14 days, you should have seen a doctor before now!"
Sorry to hear that everything was wiped out in your area too. They are changing store hours here so they can have time to clean and restock.
Paper products are just wiped out. Such a good meme Jennilee! Someone had one too, that they will be trying to sell all their toilet paper come garage sale season. I certainly hope it all blows over by then.
Yum, we love pigs in a blanket here and I have all I need to fix those. Thanks for the idea, Vickie. :)
Yes I love fixing things with what we have on hand too Belinda! Have a great day!
Hi Vickie and things are crazy here too in Australia shopping at the moment.
So much is out of stock being of course being the cheaper brands of toilet paper, pasta, flour, rice is in limited supply, hand sanitiser, long life milk, panadol is in short supply as is ironically bug spray.
They are having special trading hours early in the mornings 7 - 8am for those with disabilities, the elderly pensioners and carers for an hour each day so they can get what they need.
We will be topping up on some things we have used during this hour tomorrow. The shop should be not so crowded or mad then and we have chosen to go to a smaller town to shop.
All I can say is we are so very glad to have our stockpile now that they have bought in purchase limits on flour a maximum of 2 packs, toilet paper 1 packet, rice 1 2kg packet etc. Online pickup orders have now been cancelled which is how we used to do our shopping so know we will physically shop in the store.
Have a great week ahead :).

I love that they have hours in your area Lorna for older, disabled people! I hope they adapt that here soon.
They have already put limits on milk, toilet paper (if they have it), and many other things at some of the stores.
I knew to stock up but you were always my inspiration to keep with it. I want to thank you for that. Funny how I never dreamed that it would be this scenario.
We will have to top off our groceries too at some point too. Your know for fresh fruit if they have it and so forth.
