When I said, I'm going to learn how to cut your hair, it kind of freak my husband out yesterday morning. He said something like, he would rather put it in a ponytail. Well... Just give me a chance husband. I said, I can watch youtube videos to learn how and he finally said ok. It was that point in the conversation that he turned the tide and said he would trim my hair after I got done with his. That shut me up. Nope, it's not going to happen. Just to let you know that we will be some wild looking people after this lockdown.
Extending the Stay at Home Order
So, I heard this morning that the Governor Whitmer of Michigan wants to extend the stay at home order for 70 more days. Not for sure what they will agree to. No matter what is decided everyone, we have to get tough and stick it out. We can do this!
I was brave and wore my first mask to the school bus to pick up the kids lunches. They said that I rocked the look.
Some sad news for Michigan, we now has 9,334 cases reported to date and 337 deaths. A lot of great people have passed away, young and old alike. I'm praying for all those grieving families.
We have to stay vigilant.
Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know how things are going in your neck of the woods.

I just recently found your blog and I love it. Thanks for doing it. I am from the same state anyway as you are. Very sad and very scary. Ann
Thanks Ann for coming by. I love it that your from Michigan too. Yes, it is very scary. At times it hits me full force but we have to stay strong and vigilant.
Wow, 70 more days. I think that is the reality of this though. I let my husband trim a long spot on my hair many years ago. I put my fingers there and told him to cut along them. I meant cut below, he cut above. I was freaked out! I cannot cut my short hairstyle and neither can he so I am going to be doing some creative blowing and combing soon! We saw many in masks and gloves when we did our biweekly shopping yesterday. We also saw bandannas and whatever else people could dig up. I also realized that people are scared, very scared.
That was sweet of them to tell you that you rocked the look when you picked up the children's lunches. I'm definitely getting the container garden and jams and jellies books. Thank you, Vickie.
In Canada as a whole we have just over 10,000 cases and 131 deaths for a country with 37 million people. I live in Toronto, a city of 3 million - we have been in lockdown for two weeks now and we've been told to prepare for possibly another 12! We do know that all city wide events of any kind are cancelled/banned until at least June 30th.
Our Provinces have first control over lockdown orders and pretty much the whole country is in the same boat - its just a technicality that its not a Federal order. I have to say that I've been impressed by how well the local, provincial and federal authorities have all worked together. Everyone is following the same playbook and the politicians defer to the Health Authorities.
A lot has come from the Federal Govt. to guarantee money to people - 75% of payrolls will be covered - even those in the gig economy and freelancers should be getting $2000/month for the next 4 months. The Banks have also stepped up - mortgages and student loans can be deferred for 6 months - CC payments & overdraft charges are being deferred. No one who rents can be evicted and we are even getting the cheap rates from our Hydro company as so many are working from home so they are doing their best.
Companies have also stepped up to shift production to provide PPE without having to be asked or legislated - it will be tight for the next few weeks but a plane from China arrived last night with millions of pieces of PPE so that is now being distributed. The provinces have pledged to share with the areas that need it most for now so that there is time to get our own companies into full production - the goal is to be self-sufficient asap. Crazy times.
Oh no about your hair! It would freak me out too Lana!
I heard that anything is better to wear as a mask than nothing at all. Your right I see it the fear in people's eyes.
They were very nice but they were not wearing any masks just gloves. I hope they start wearing a mask soon.
Hope you live your bookx.
I love that Canada is taking such great care of it's citizens! We have a lot of the same benefits (except for the great money) too.
I wish they would make it a federal order for both of our countries. So much simpler and everyone would be on the same page.
It's good that China is sending you supplies. It's taking a lot of them. That's the hard part getting the production up and running. Ford and GM both are working on it here and have started their first distributions yesterday. Thank God.
With a country as big as our (U.S. is 327 million and Michigan alone has a population 10 million) of course I wish more was done earlier. Some people even thought it was a hoax. Here we are though so now we have to pray and hope that the our country will make it through.
Distribution to areas that need it the most is good ...I hope they save more than enough for their own needs too because this virus has no boundaries. Stay well Margie from Toronto!
I let my husband cut my hair a few times & he did a pretty good job. He will shave his head if it goes on too long...I so do not want him to do that but he has threatened to do it for years now.
Oh man I guess we are all in a predictament! Jenny I do wonder what we will all will look like. It will be interesting.
Hubby and I are well. He is working from home. He is usually sitting at the dining room table which is now his home office. My home office is upstairs. :-) I've found some projects for him, too. He put up the hummingbird feeder and we've had our first hummingbird of the season visit. :-) Take care and stay healthy. Virtual hugs.
I'm so glad you are well and you got your own spaces set up.
I love humming birds but have never been that successful attracting them. So fun to watch. Stay well.
Hello Vickie and I laughed about your experience and horror about cutting each others hair :).
DH usually trims my hair and I cut his with clippers and trim the back of his neck too. I did have one incident when I first started cutting his hair but got used to it so clippers are the way to go and your really can't go wrong, except with the neck part.
I am so sorry to hear your area has so many cases and deaths it is indeed scary and glad you are now wearing a mask. Up until now they are still telling us not to wear masks and keep them for front line medical staff and instead keep social distancing.
I think they are reviewing that with latest information being that wearing masks is advantageous.
In our state of Queensland in Australia we have 873 confirmed cases.
Take care and stay safe everyone :).
So good to hear from you Lorna! I might have to invest in some clippers soon! That sounds like way to go. Now for both of us to trust one another LOL
They have changed their minds here about the masks. They are now saying to wear one when your in public. Many people are making them. I think they are trying every thing to stop this virus now.
It is very scary. He
Be safe and stay well too!
Hi Vickie and good news here is our infection rate has gone down here in Australia with 25% in March to 5% this month. It is still scary though.
Yes was looking at the change of mind for asymptomatic people still spreading the virus with no symptoms which is a worry. It is similar with flu though that people are contagious for up to 10 days before they get the first symptoms. Ex nurse speak.
We have masks here both N95 and surgical masks and from what I read the N95 or p2 are more effective although anything that offers a barrier is good. Many are making them here too although a few companies were slammed for doing it on the grounds they said they were profiting from a health crisis. I think that might change now.
Grab those clippers and they come with combs for different lengths and really easy to use. Just when doing the neck tell them to stay still :).
Have a great week.
Wow Lorna that gives me hope that we might finally go the other way soon with this virus. That is just wonderful to hear about Australia.
It's really something how greed plays a big role in this health crisis. I'm not sure how they can live with themselves.
I'll buy me a pair of clippers soon! I think they might be the great solution because I have no idea of how to cut hair.
You have a great weekend too!
