My First Mask 4/28/20!
I'm taking a little break today from the Kindle Books but I wanted to show you my first mask.
I have not made a mask before because I thought my sewing machine was broke. Last night though I watched how to fix my machine and then how to sew this mask on youtube.
I made a few mistakes and since then I have found a few shortcuts on how to make the pleats. I'll be perfect before you know it!
Have you made a mask yet?

No but you've given me courage to do so.
217 masks....i am masked out! That said, I will make more upon request.
Looks great!!! Great job fixing your sewing machine too.
I haven't tried making masks yet. I don't have any elastic, and I heard it was hard to come by.
Looks great! We actually bought ours from a missions organization who made them and then all money went to feed people overseas.
I will be making masks this weekend. I have a friend that makes them for essential people. Takes her about 10 mins with cutting them out to sewing them. She irons hers to make the pleats and then sews the pleats.
Great job !
It was easy! No problem at all!
Thanks!
Oh my goodness 217! I guess you are masked out!
Yes! Once you get going it would be a breeze to make them!
Oh I love that! Your protected and your helping at the same time.
Oh no about the elastic ...I just used what I had but I'm out! Hope we both find some soon!
My daughter-in-law made a mask for me & when I had my lab work done they gave me a disposable mask. I decided the disposable is good for at least one or two more wears since I was only around one person with my lab work & she was wearing a mask as well.
My husband's employer is supposed to give each employee a fabric mask sometime this week. So I plan to use it when I shop if it's more comfortable. Ugh...I hate shopping in them. But I do.
Jenny We went grocery shopping for the first time in forever today with a face mask on. I find it hard to breathe. I hope this one won't be so hot but I know it's probably not as good as the ones we already have.
That looks great Vickie! I haven't had a desktop computer working for so long, so haven't been able to comment. I hope you are staying safe and well. Mimi
I have to admit I have been slacking. I have a huge walk in closet and one side is filled with yards of fabric hung on hangers, I have thread, elastic you name it. I am hoping to get around to some of it this week. Still looking at youtube to find the easiest, I will have hubby do the cutting and I will sew. Praying everyone stays healthy and safe.
Can't sew a thing myself, but yours looks great and is cute too. I have one given to me at the clinic when I went in for xrays on my shoulder. I finally got a phone visit with the bone doc paid for by our insurance and that is healing now. I wear the mask in public, but today I went to the grocery store and there was only one other person there with a mask on and lots without.
Thanks to everyone with skills making masks.
It's good to hear from you Mimi! Yes all is well..I'm off to visit your blog now!
I was thinking tealady I would have the kids do some cutting today! Its a great way to use up some of that. I bet you could make some cute ones.
Yesterday though it was 95% with a mask. I was glad to see so many. I have heard from my daughter that a lot of people don't wear one. Not good for sure.
I'm glad to hear your shoulder is healing.
I don't sew. But, I have a good friend who makes masks. Great job Vicki! :-)
Oh itself good to have a friend like that Melissa! My daughter has a friend who is giving us ear savers. Love people!
