I'll let you in on a little secret, I break glasses (drinking glasses). Somehow, they slip out of my hands and they are gone. I've done this all my life, so it's not a getting older thing. I guess my grip is bad. So, every year I stock up on glasses at garage sales and I'm good till the next Spring. This year there hasn't been that many garage sales yet and our supply was getting low. Oh, we did have those small ones that you have to refill over and over because somehow I don't break them. It was really getting to be a serious shortage around here though.
So, we made sure to look for them in any store we went in. Not that we go out a lot but if we were in Meijers for groceries or somewhere like that we made sure to hunt for them. They were just not there. The shelves for goods other than groceries are getting low too. Listen, Amazon knows about the shortage because prices for glasses on there are unbelievable. Finally, we hit pay dirt when we thought about going to the Dollar Tree. They had a good supply, so I bought 20 of them. We are stocked up for quite awhile!
Please a comment and let me know how it's going in your neck of the woods.
Thirty Shades of Milkshake: An Ally to Deliciousness
I downloaded this one since you can't get a shake in my town. The Dairy Queen is lined up in the street (really) and so is Culvers. We are going to make our own unique shakes. Hope this book is good!

When we were at the lake a few weeks ago and went to two thrift stores I noticed that they had tons of glasses. Way more than usual so all this maybe does not add up! I'm glad you found some at Dollar Tree. I have that dropping problem with my hands too and I believe it is genetic because my Dad and his Mother had the same problem.
I can't find clay flower pots this year in any of my stores. I just need one big one!
I'm trying to think of everyone in my family and I think there were a few of us like that but I was the worst. Maybe it is genetics.
We didn't look at thrift stores yet as they have just opened up and we are still kind of limiting our going out like we used to. You bet though I'll stock up when I finally do. Maybe I should keep a stock pile of glasses!
I haven't noticed the flower pots but yet again we don't go shopping that much. Hope you find one.
Vickie I am so glad you were able to get your drinking glasses at a good reasonable price :) .
Incidentally you are not the only as we kindly call ourselves "smasher and crasher" as DH from his back injuries has impaired feeling in his hands and I due to a brain injury have impaired fine motor skills in my hands too. Both of us regularly drop or throw things accidentally :o .
We just replaced our dinner set we have had for 15 years and bought 4 x 16 pce sets to allow 2 sets for replacements for when we both smash and crash and do likewise with sets of glasses :).
We too are now seeing in Australian stores shortages on things like new clothing, underwear, shoes, mowers, brush cutters and chainsaws. Most of these things are made in mostly China.
Groceries stocks in our local supermarkets are fairly much back to normal but things like popping corn kernels and ammonia we cannot buy. I did manage to order bulk popping corn from an online party supplier though.
Think we need to think laterally sometimes to get supplies in when certain items are out of stock elsewhere.
Have a great week :).
Lorna.
Lorna i love your nicknames for each other. It's good to know someone else in the smashing business. I already broke a coke glass so here we go.
It's weird what you can't find. I find that you don't know there is a problem buying it till you need it. It we could use figure it out before hand we would be alright. Have a good week too.
Thank you and it would be good if we could work out what wasn't going to be available in advance so we can prepare but unfortunately not.
As an ex nurse I will say that if you have injuries in your body that can sometimes be the cause of if you experience lack of feeling in your hands and therefor dropping things. Usually these things are caused by nerve damage that affects the use of our hands.
Sometimes we also just born more smashers and crashers than others too.
I hope this helps :) .
Lorna.
Good deal on the glasses at the Dollar store. I feel that way about forks and pick up all that I see at yard sales.
I'm pretty sure I was born this way. A smasher and a crasher is not a bad thing to be I guess.
Yes...The im going to brave the yard sales too if I can social distance. I think they throw the spoons and forms away here.
I love the coke glasses.
I am a member of the dropsy club too. I have broken so many glasses through the years, and I have a pitiful collection of salad bowls. None of them match or go with any of my dishes. If I ever have people over again, I won't be serving salad ;)
Ha ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I can even break corelle dishes. Man they break into a million pieces.
