It's been weighing on my mind lately...how future generations are going to remember how I survived this pandemic.  There will be stories I'm sure and there will be relics that are stashed in the attic or basement. Like the leftover disposable mask box or the stash of cute sewn masks Grandma made us.  Maybe it will be all on the Antique Roadshow and they will make some money.

All in all, what's most important to me are the stories that will be handed down about how Grandma survived this crazy time, that I more worried about. When  those stories get told I want them to be good ones.  None of that I feel so sorry for her that she went through such a hard time and she didn't know how she was going to make it, stuff.  The stories I want told of me, I hope, will be how she helped her family and her neighbors as much as she could.  How she didn't explode when something went wrong.  How she was resourceful and just made do with what she had.  How she went on her way and made everything seem like it was normal for the family as best she could.  How she learned many new skills so she could be ready for the next disaster because she had this feeling there would be another one.

Some days, believe me, I have a hard time being all these things.  Some days, I want to go in my room, shut the door, and scream at how wrong the world is right now (it's never happened but the feeling is strong).  Then some days I'm a saint, my resolve to get everything just right is great and I'm a worker for my family and friends.

My hope is that they remember the good times.

How's it going in your neck of the woods?

I had not thought of that but oh how right you are. All our family is far away so we do not see them every day like you but I hope they remember that we cared about how they were dealing with it all and that we were helpful in some small way from a distance. I hope they know that we prayed for them when when could not do anything else.

I am so tired. Tired of COVID. Tired of all the smoke in the air so we can't even get outside. Tired of no fresh air (due to the smoke). Tired that I have not been able to see my mother since March. Okay, I got that off my chest. But..... I still have a job I enjoy, my garden did pretty well this summer, my son got engaged this summer, so I try to dwell on those things.

There is good and bad. Your so right Nancy we need to concentrate on the good as much as we can. it will finally outweigh the bad..soon I hope.

We can't see his family either a lot either and We miss them. So prayer is the best thing of all Lana your right. I can guarantee you those small things are much appreciated. I know they love whatever you do for them.

I sometimes wonder if the generations before us felt the same way...if they thought about how much their actions could encourage those after them. When my mother-in-law passed away we were new empty-nesters. She made life so much harder the last 10 to 15 yrs of her life. Goodness the struggle. So after she passed my husband & I looked each other & decided we were going to age well. We wanted to be an example to our son of how to face the hard part of aging with grace. Thankfully he doesn't live with us so it's not so hard to only show the good side! We save our bad sides for each other. ;)

I really enjoyed another day out today. I did some fun shopping, lets hope I don't regret that! I only saw one person wearing her mask on her chin instead of covering her mouth & nose. So I wasn't nervous even though there were quite a few people in one store.

My daughter-in-law has taken my grandson & is spending a long weekend with her sister. Her sister had a miscarriage this summer & has really struggled..she has 4 children as well. So my son is home alone & he invited his dad & me to eat supper with him tomorrow night. It will be nice because we won't have a two yr old pulling on us constantly to play. I'm looking forward to just soaking up my son...it will be a very rare treat.

I want to age well too and not be a cranky old person.
It's something to be on guard for I guess.
Glad you had such a good time shopping.
Have a wonderful time with your son. I hope your dils sister is feeling better soon. It's a hard thing to go through.
