The reading problem we are having!

Today is the day..he has nothing to read.  Yep, he has run out of his favorite series, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  He absolutely refuses to read anything else.  He loves these books and goes through them like water.

I can't say a word because I was like that too with Little House on the Prairie.  Read them all and refused to read anything else too for quite a while.  Then came Nancy Drew and others.  I fell in love again.

It's not completely over,I have pre-ordered the new one and he has one by the author coming tonight that is along this lines too.

Still there is today...he has other great books that his Mom and me have ordered for him.  Pray that he will try and read a new to him kind of book.

Reading is important!

Glad your grandson enjoys reading! Hope he finds another series that he likes too. My son liked those Diary of a wimpy kid books when he was in middle school, and I thought the movie was good too. Unfortunately the required readings in high school and college has turned him off reading for fun. Why do teachers pick some of the most boring books?

I got the muffin book. Thanks! :)

Do you think your grandson would like a Wimpy Kid School Planner? I have one that I would be happy to put in the mail to him or you. You have helped me get so many books! You can email me your or his address at memtgil at cox dot net if you think he'd like it.

Kathy that's so sad..I hope someday he will enjoy reading again. The book we ordered actually was in the mailbox this morning just in time for reading to self time but he needs to slow down a little..LOL. Do you remember doing book reports? I'm hoping they don't do them anymore.

That's so sweet Elaine..I can't wait till he comes tomorrow to ask him if he has read that one. He just devours them.

I can't remember how old he is? My son hated to read growing up but reads all the time now. I required so much reading a day then let him go.

One thing you might try is to read aloud if you have time. I read aloud to mine from birth until he graduated from high school. You might find some good ideas from https://readaloudrevival.com/

I think audio books are just fine too as long as that's not the only way they 'read' books.

Yes..he is in fifth grade -he only loves these books so my daughter did say when he runs out to start to read to him. Maybe by doing that for awhile he'll branch out to another series of books. I hope so! soon!

I'm glad his book came in the mail.
I remember book reports, and they still have to do them, even in some college classes.
