I'm a hoarder of seeds I admit.  I really don't need anymore but I can't pass up a seed display.   I like to get different varieties that will help us either find a different tasting vegetable or enhance the variety we plant.   For instance, instead of just leaf lettuce I'm going to mix in gourmet blend lettuce.  I little different flavor for our salad.

Lately, I've heard from many sources that seed companies are already running low.  I'm not even sure because I haven't checked but so many are saying that, I'll just trust them. So, where do I find my different varieties (some are heirloom, some not)?   I find them when I shop at local stores.  So far, I've found them at Menard's and Meijer's, my two favorite stores during this pandemic.

Right now. Menards has their Valley Greene for 37 cents a packet.  I remember from previous years they will have them for cheaper then that more near Spring.  Whether they will or not this year I can't guarantee it.  A lot of their seeds are heirloom.

They also have other seed companies displays at Menards and I bought some Burpee Sugar Snap Peas.  These are not heirloom.  They are cheaper price than what's marked on the packet but a lot more expensive.

I believe you get more bang for your buck at seed companies.  So if you can find a source for what you need that's the best place.  Many times these seed packets don't have a lot in them.

So, this is just a suggestion, if you need another source.

Are you having trouble finding seeds? or  How's it's going in your neck of the woods?

I haven't started looking for seeds. I'm not sure if I'll try to grow much this year.

I have tons of seeds from years past as well. I have seen them at places I have gone. Garden center, grocery stores, and Dollar stores have all had plenty and good variety.
I have enough to last the next few years - so not too worried.

it's a lot of work I know some years with things going on. I've watched people grow some great vegetables in pots of that helps you.

Oh man that's me Cheryl enough to last quite awhile! Good idea about the dollar stores and other grocery stores to look for seeds.

I usually order from either Seed Savers or Bakers Creek. I placed an order this past weekend and it seems most items were still available but I did see a fair amount of 'out of stock' items.

Yes! Seeds are becoming hard to find. Many Out of Stock, or substituting with other seeds. We are waiting for one more order but then we'll have what we need. I went thru my seed packets before ordering-I had a bunch of seeds that were 5 years + old so pitched (maybe I should've kept?). But be aware-seeds are becoming hard to find. Happy gardening everyone-sure sounds nice as it was -15 her this morning!

I've been hearing that. Everyone is growing a garden it seems and I think it's great!

good thing to take inventory for sure Nancy. Some of your old seeds might have been viable but it will be ok.
I'm a wimp because i froze at 12 degrees this morning.. Your -15 sounds too cold for me!
