Happy St. Patrick's Day! I've got the corned beef and cabbage ready to cook in the fridge paired with potatoes, we are going to have a feast!
So are we Irish? Probably so here and there. Just a little bit of joy in the winter for us.
Now to find something green to wear.
Interesting fact: Did you know St. Patrick's Day is actually the date of his death?
Do you celebrate St. Patrick's day in anyway?

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Sounds like you will have a delicious feast!
I think that I am more English and Scottish, but I'll fix a corned beef to make reubens. Leftover pie from pi day, so an easy meal.
Have a great day!
If I were at school today I would definitely wear green, but since I am home I am wearing another color. I told Bailey I might have to pinch her later since she was not wearing green and she told me she could pinch me too. LOL
I have a children's story that I used to tell when I taught children yrs ago. It's very interesting & tells more of Patrick's life after he escaped slavery & then went back to Ireland.
And my husband & I are going through "A Calendar of Hymns" on Sundays together. Last Sunday's hymn was 'Be Thou My Vision'. I've sung this song my entire life & never knew it was an Irish hymn! I also did not know that the tune is a traditional Irish tune. The tune is named after the hill that Patrick lit an Easter eve fire on before King Leogaire could stop him...an exciting story there that's in the children's story I mentioned. Patrick was born around 371AD. The tune is traced back to around 1000AD & the words were written sometime around the turn of the last century.
I can go on...I am a big history addict. We've forgotten so much...I'm always finding new things about the past I never knew.
We aren't eating anything special today unless you call pork chops, mashed potatoes & green beans special. :)
Oh I was really get into that history this morning and loving every bit. I bet your story was so good. We need to remember the good people! Now that beautiful hymn is singing in my mind.
Oh the kids are lucky about that pinching part and they wore green! I had forgotten that. St. Pattys day is so fun!
I missed making a pie for pi day. That would have been so much fun! Have a great meal!
I actually watched a TV show the other that said corned beef and cabbage is an American tradition and not Irish at all. It was started here - and the reason corned beef was used, as most had Jewish neighbors back in the day and that was meat they could get. I thought that was interesting.
I wondered why we had corner beef! I know the Irish had beef and cabbage. That's a good piece of history too.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hubby and I wore green shirts today. :-) Also, I got my first Covid vaccine today. Hooray! Hubby gets his next week.
Happy St Patrick's Day to you too Melissa! Yeah for your covid vaccine. I do have vaccine envy though but hopefully we will get ours soon LOL.
