Free Kindle Books for Today 5/14/21 Plus the Amish Have Nerves of Steel!

We took a day trip to Shipshewana Wednesday.

With bumper to bumper traffic beside them on the road, I believe the Amish have nerves of steel.  We saw Amish riding bikes and buggies along side the road in Shipshewana and all I could think was "I could not do that."  The smiling old lady (like me) with the bike and a bike trailer behind her just took the cake!  She  Came out of the hardware store with a lawn seed spreader in the trailer and went on her merry way.   It didn't bother her in the least.

We stopped at E&S sales too and it was neat to see all the Amish shopping alongside with us.  I believe they had a special holiday on Thursday and were there to make sure they had everything.

So what happened to Thursday you say?  I don't know for sure but I believe I had too much of that peanut butter concoction that taste so wonderful or just too many good things.  It kept me sick in bed for most of the morning.   I'm feeling 100% better today already!  No more crap!

Great news!

The most exciting news to me yesterday was the announcement of no more masks for vaccinated people (with exceptions).  Yeah!  You know though of course there is a mask mandate in Michigan and it sounds like we have to wear one but the end sounds so near!

How's it going in your neck of the woods?

Sounds like a wonderful escape, well except for the being sick part. Glad you are feeling better now. I have never tried the amish peanut butter spread stuff, but it sounds so good.
We went to Lancaster PA a few years ago, but I was really worried about coming upon a buggy on those winding roads since they don't have a buggy lane in some places. Those horses must be really well trained so they don't bolt with so many cars zipping past them.
So glad that life may be getting back to a more normal. Will be nice not having to wear a mask so much.
Have a great weekend.

Yes they would have to be well trained your right. Scary driving for sure!
It took a year and a half it We are going to get over it soon I hope!

Hi Vickie-Sounds like you had a fun trip. Sorry you didn't feel well. If we go anywhere I'm like a kid in a candy store because I haven't been out for so long-I want to try everything! I did some gardening today-planted peas, onions & potatoes. It's still been below 32 for a few nights here-jeez! But looks like warmer days ahead here! Happy for no masks news-don't know if we can fully do that-seems too quick. But thats just us. Have a good weekend-appreciate you!

It sounds like it's too quick for me too.
Oh 6u were to panting too. Cabbage and potatoes planted here. Like you I got to watch that frost still.

Horses do good but ponies are known for jumping around with the buggy. We live amongst the Amish and Hubby does work for them. Ascension was Thursday. Hubby was raised Lutheran and they celebrate it.

It's been so nice to get away! We went to the lake for our 34th ann. It was nice & quiet...so nice & quiet. We also took one day touring Dogwood Canyon. When we bought our tickets we were told we were required to wear masks on the tram but no one wore them so we didn't wither. The area where we were staying we say almost no one wearing masks. It's very rural & they had very little covid there even though it's a big tourist destination. I got so used to not wearing my mask that when we stopped at the store on the way home I forgot it in the car....in my area most people are still wearing them so that was uncomfortable...walking through the store without one.

I'm not too excited about the new rule. How will they enforce it? I don't want people to be required to prove they've been vaccinated to be able to go anywhere. I believe most people in my area who aren't wearing masks now either are vaccinated (like us) or have had covid. I'm wearing a mask if the business requires it or my friends ask me to. My book club is meeting indoors this weekend & our leader has asked us to wear one so I will with no complaints.

We also ate inside a restaurant for the first time this weekend.

I'm not sure yet ...I'm going to take it slow. This will be hard to enforce that's for sure. I'm kind of afraid of an upsurge in cases with the unvaccinated.
Your trip sounds wonderful and just exactly what everyone needed. Just a getaway and nice and quiet. Glad you had such a great time.
