After we ran out of grass clippings for mulch, husband decided he had better till between the rows. We have had a good amount of garden rain which of course means that we now have a good amount of weeds! Those weeds would have probably been up to my eyeballs when I finally got them under control. Besides, I think he likes to help out and run that thing.
The harvest this morning, a few strawberries (grand girl picked and ate on her harvest all week), chives, rhubarb, chocolate mint and peppermint.
Warning: This harvest will not fill you up. It's not something to sustain you, but it will flavor what you do have and so to me it's important. The flavors will make your food much more enjoyable. I love mint tea (chocolate mint is fun), we love the chives to flavor our soups and potatoes, the strawberries can be used with tomorrows harvest to get a good bowl full to eat (hide it in the refrigerator) or make strawberry muffins, and I'm going to make a rhubarb cake with a recipe I found. It will be good!
How did you save money last week?
