Book Review: The Home Edit...Don't Buy this Book if...

The Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals

Believe this: every single space in your house has the potential to function efficiently and look great. The mishmash of summer and winter clothes in the closet? Yep. Even the dreaded junk drawer? Consider it done. And the best news: it’s not hard to do—in fact, it’s a lot of fun.

From the home organizers who made their orderly eye candy
the method that everyone swears by comes Joanna and Clea’s signature approach to decluttering. The Home Edit walks you through paring down your belongings in every room, arranging them in a stunning and easy-to-find way (hello, labels!), and maintaining the system so you don’t need another do-over in six months. When you’re done, you’ll not only know exactly where to find things, but you’ll also love the way it looks.

A masterclass and look book in one,
The Home Edit is filled with bright photographs and detailed tips, from placing plastic dishware in a drawer where little hands can reach to categorizing pantry items by color (there’s nothing like a little ROYGBIV to soothe the soul). Above all, it’s like having your best friends at your side to help you turn the chaos into calm.

My Review:

Because of this book, I've tore up the whole house and organized it most of it.  I still have some more to do but right now I don't want to see another storage basket.  Because of this book I can find what I want and when I want.  It's a great motivator to get it done and has some great ideas.

It also has some great pictures to look at and you will want to do that too.  So,  I suggest that you don't buy this book if you don't want to get your house in order.

I still have a little ways to go but here are some pictures of what I've done so far:

I've cleaned and organized underneath cabinets:

Underneath one of my cabinet

Underneath the sink cabinet- Believe me this is an improvement

This is my favorite improvement so far, the water bottles and cups.  We had so many water bottles that they were hitting me on the head when I opened up the cabinet.

I got rid of a lot and found this organizer on Amazon.  I bought 2.

It seems we like to collect coffee cups too and I got rid of all I could when he wasn't around.

In the pantry I realized how much soup we had and I used my favorite hack of using a pop carton to organize.  I'm waiting on another carton to put more in.

There is still so much to do!

I bought this book and this is my honest opinion.  Just be warned!

The required purchase of "organizing accessories" is ridiculous! I have an organized home without containers.

Pull everything out of a single cupboard and put back ONLY what you use on a regular basis. The rest goes.

Elle, I bought most of the baskets at garage sale except a few at Ollie's. I think the best organizers of all where the water bottle things and the coke carton for the soup. Nope, you don't need the baskets. It would get costly to buy them all..the book also had a lot of pretty pantries to look at. I wish!
