Our Little Trip to See the Colors Trip Up North and My to do List!

We are never bored here and I think that's a good thing.  We went away this past weekend for a night and in between having fun, maybe it was the cold I don't know, but I found myself  thinking of  things we need to do back home before this winter hits us full force.  I think husband did too because after a good nights rest we both got to work yesterday.  I helped him put up the outdoor yard light that needed replacing and then spread some compost in the raised beds and planted some garlic.

Here is a list of things of other things I was thinking about.  Should take me a good two weeks to finish if I work hard.

Outdoor work

Plant garlic

Plant tulips

Harvest more seed and pick more mustard greens

Clean out the garden of tomato cages and bean poles then start raking leaves over strawberries and garden

Clean inside of car and truck

Run electrical to chicken coop for the chicken water heater.  It's almost time for the water to start freezing.  I'll need the husband.  I probably shouldn't have told him this while I was on the ladder and he was up on the roof of the garage putting up the yard light. Yeah, not a good time but he was nice, a bit chilly but nice. I picked the wrong time for sure!  I'll gently remind him again in a few days after we have went for a ride, had a good dinner, and a nap.

Indoor Work

Clean and organize 3 2 kitchen drawers- you know the ones that you can't get open.

Clean carpets

Crafts and Fun times

Work to Finish a quilt- this is reserved for rainy, too cold to work outside days, or the I refuse to do any more hard work outside days

I'm always reading!

Here are some pictures from our travels north to Petosky, Michigan to see the colors.  The wind was quite strong and whipping up the waves.  We even seen someone riding the waves (surfing), in Lake Michigan....in October!   We came across one lady going into the resturant we were at, with what looked like a coat you would wear in the deepest of winter.  She said they had come from the Upper Pennisula of Michigan where it was even colder.

We stopped at this apple orchard with a breath taking view.  The prices for apples was just unbelievable so we bought some chocolate milk in a glass jar and took these pictures.   On the way back we took a ride over to the East side of Michigan and bought some apples for a great deal.

Although the colors were not quite at peak around the Little Traverse Bay, we did see some beautiful colors like this on the way there (picture stolen from my daughter).

Are the colors turning yet in your area?

Sounds like a lovely vacation trip! Love the pictures! Our leaves aren't that colorful yet, but maybe in another week or two.
Hoping we can take a drive on the Blue Ridge parkway soon. I love fall!
