Our Travels at Spring Break!

We went to see his Mom and the family this past weekend.  She is close to 90! It's a 600 mile trip and it's Spring Break what in the world were we thinking? Traffic, oh the traffic.  According to the husband we will never go again at Spring break, ha ha.

As we go along 75 we usually stop at a rest area as we get closer and get one of those books that give you discounts on hotel rooms.  We usually don't even make reservations.  So many of the hotels I called this time were full or were outrageous prices.  Almost deciding to sleep in our car  while we were there (you can just hear that conversation and feel my mind racing thinking how that would work), I remembered the B and B in the mountains.  God is good.

We rented the cabin  and were so excited.  Good price (better than the motels), wonderful beds, and so clean.

All we could hear were frogs from the nearby stream. It was a lovely sound compared to our trains, expressway, and planes overhead.    Just peaceful.

We bought groceries so we made breakfast and had a sandwich at night.

We bought 24 cans of our Luck's beans to bring back with us but we forgot the White lilly flour.  I don't know guys we are helpless!

We celebrated our anniversary (44 years) by going to the Kruger Brothers concert at The Ark in Ann Arbor.  The banjo player could play anything (bluegrass, rock, etc).  Very talented both of the brothers and the bass player too.

I think we love each other now more than ever.  Well, except for the sleeping in the car conversation.  I never know if he is teasing!

Then we went to the butter fly exhibit in Grand Rapids with the grand kids.  Now I'm tired and refuse to do anymore traveling for awhile.  There's no place like home whereever you may be.

This is what we save our money for!

Hope you have had a wonderful break, if you have one in your part of the world.

Any time we travel away from home I always think I'll shop at a grocery store we don't have but tend to forget when I get there what I was looking for.

Oh my goodness you two sound just like us! One trip we drove an extra 300 miles looking for a place to stay! Another trip I did book all the places to stay and found out that hotel reviews are completely useless. Happy Anniversary! I get the loving part. We are almost 45 years. Yay on the Luck's and boo on the White Lily. Luck's has a new white chili bean that is so good! We just discovered it.

Glad you were able to visit your mil, and the cabin sounds great.
Hope you have a great weekend.

Cheryl, That's sounds about right for us too. I need to write a list but I would probably forget it.

Thanks Lana, 45 years for you - your doing good.
I can't wait to find some of that Luck's white chili beans! Sounds so good.
Who are these people who write reviews I wonder. Maybe the hotel/motel went down hill after they left. It could happen.

Thanks Kathy. We loved our cabin in the woods for sure. The pandemic put us behind in visiting family. We are catching up and it's great.
Have a good weekend too!
