Getting ahead I made tuna and egg salad, chopped onions, and I also peeled potatoes for the week on Sunday. I peeled enough potatoes for three meals and kept them in a big bowl of water in the refrigerator (enough water to cover). I will use the last of them today (Friday).
I also made popcorn balls for the grandchildren. These went fast so sorry I didn't get to take a picture. First, I stole a bag of marshmallows from the children's home one morning. Thinking I was being real sneaky I casually put them in my coat. Little one, who watches everything, saw me. She looked at me, looked at her Mom, and then yelled MOM, grandma's stealing marshmallows. I can't get by with nothing.
I didn't know popcorn balls were so easy to make. I watched a segment on the Outdoor Boys on youtube and he explained how to make them. We love watching them have great adventures every Saturday.
I put up the last of the dried seeds for the garden and the table is now clean.
I can't seem to empty the biggest rain barrel, it rains so much and the ground is so wet that it floods around it. Next week seems to be dry, so there is hope.

I love to prep food ahead too. The potatoes for the week is a great idea. Hahaha on the marshmallow stealer!! It is so incredibly dry here that they are telling us to call 911 if we see anyone burning. Just a spark that is growing to acres in minutes. We have a chance of rain this weekend so we are hoping.
So sorry to hear about it being dry there Lana. Wish I could send you some rain. I'm glad you'll be on the watch.
Too funny about the marshmallows. I bet the grands enjoyed the popcorn balls. I haven't made those in a long time.
Your chicks look happy; Queens of the hill! They are such funny birds with unique personalities. Do you have a rooster too? When we kept chickens, the rooster was a bean ole bird.
Hope you have a fun weekend.
Kathy, no roosters has I'm still in the city limits.
I loved his recipe for the popcorn balls ...so easy! just the same as rice Krispy treats. I've never made them before. Hope you had a good weekend.
Preparing food ahead is the name of the game, I love it! "Grandma is stealing marshmallows" LOL How cute! I'll have to watch the YouTube video on how to make popcorn balls, Bailey has always liked those and I don't think I've ever had a freshly made one, but I'm sure they are way better than store bought ones. Your chickens are beautiful!
