Fall Chores & a Beautiful Autumn Walk!

Fall is here and we are keeping busy preparing for the winter months. I feel like there is a lot to do!  

Here is what we are doing in the greenhouse:

Granddaughter helped me spray paint some milk jugs and fill them with water for solar heating.   We finished 4 but I would like to do a lot more. People need to drink more milk around here!

We will see how much this helps...  I've done this before but not to the extend I want to do it this time.

I picked lettuce for the week out of the green stalks.  After watching a video a light bulb went off and I realized my green stalks were too close to the greenhouse door -so basically when you open the door you would be immediately giving them a blast of cold air.  So I rearranged everything and moved them a little further away from the door, more in the middle of the row.

In the garden:  I hope to plant the garlic and tulips this week.  I will also be pulling up the tomato cages after the frost we are expecting.  It's easier when the tomato foliage is dead to get the cages out of the soil.

I feel like I'm running out of time before the snow falls so I'm going to get busy!  

It gets dark at night so early now so I've been back to crocheting or sewing.  I'm crocheting a hat and scarf for donation and last night I completed the scarf.

On one of the warmer days this past week we went for a our local nature preserve.   We saw a couple of turkeys, ducks, and lots of squirrels.  It was a beautiful Autumn walk through the fallen leaves. Thank goodness they have lots of benches because I used every single one we came across!   

Today they are calling for an all day rain so we are planning on walking at a church that has a indoor track (they have benches too).  There is a way!

Besides great how to You tube videos I've become addicted to the stories that are told.  This week my favorite story has been: 

His Own Children Had No Room for Him — So He Knocked on His Daughter in Law's Door!

I was also sent a book from Leslie Gould to review!  Just the cover alone makes me want to dive right in!

My Review:

I knew there were rooms in my house that needed deep cleaning but life seemed to keep me too busy to get to them.   I downloaded this book when it was free a week or two ago and it has helped me make time to really get down to business.

I started with the computer/sewing room and I feel like I've had amazing results! It's a room that has started to be a catchall and I just let it go.  Now it's not a make over ...but it feels like it!.

I was tempted to finish projects but then I knew I would never get done. Those projects will be there this winter after gardening season.  I just folded, cleaned, and donated.

It didn't overwhelm me at all ...just 15 minutes a day.   It has taken about 1 week and half.

One secret I might as well tell you ...yesterday I looked up and saw the ceiling fan.  Well that was enlightening to say the least.  

This book gave me a system that helped get it done.  I feel like I can keep this room looking nice and tidy now.

My Review:

Broken hearts and life circumstances abound in When They Meet Again by Leslie Gould.  Sometimes life doesn't go as planned and we can experience a total different romance than expected.

Joanna works hard at her job and thinks she has life all figured out until the unexpected happens out of the blue.  She quickly finds out that life can throw some curves both in the romance department and everyday life.

Very interesting read.  I loved hearing about the grandmas stepping in a little and never giving up hope for a good outcome.

My Review:

The Shop Down the Lane was one I would have delighted to walk into and been able to talk to Louis.  I could imagine the bird houses that filled the shop and the woods in the back of the shop filled with different birds.  Always a lover of birds, I now want to bird watch even more.

The twists and turns of different romances were there, with Lois and Moses failed one from years ago at the forefront. A good lesson in the book for me was that no one really knows what the other is going through and for that matter has been through. It's amazing what we can assume of each other.

I curled up on the couch one morning to read this book and stayed that way most of the day. I didn't stop till the last page was read.  Wonderful wonderful read!
