How I Saved Money this Past Week 11/19/21

When have been to estate sales this morning and so far this is my favorite find.  We bought this arbor (or trellis) for $20.   It's not where it will be in the Spring but we couldn't get it in the ground anywhere else.  Once we till the garden we will move it.  We also bought a steam cleaner for carpets for $10, tomato cages, and tools for Husband.  Now we are off to find some more treasures!

I remembered when my friend told me about Dawn's Power Wash dishwashing liquid and how she uses my technique for the liquid foaming hand soap to save money.  Well it came on sale this past month and I've started doing this too.  It has saved me a lot of money buying dish soap.  You can view my post on how to making foaming hand soap here but it's basically 1/3 soap and the rest water.

I started with ibotta this past week and I have already earned $10.00.  I earned $5.00 for signing up and $5.00 from Meijer purchases.  I like the thoughts of it being attached to my MPerks rewards and I don't have to upload the receipts.  No, I haven't yet did the Walmart deal where you basically get the whole Turkey dinner for free but I'm going there today so I'll get it done.  If you haven't signed up with Ibotta yet and would like to, I would love it if you uses my referral code OTQKKDY.

Our washer, refrigerator, and dishwasher have all quit on us this past two months.  I hate to say this but I think most of the appliances that we pay for seem to be junk and don't last as long as our parents appliances did.

We had an extended warranty on the refrigerator and they replaced the part, we bought a new dishwasher and husband installed it himself saving us $180.00, and the washer is on back order till who knows when.

We are struggling with the washer we have for right now.  Small loads seem to be the best on the quick wash. It doesn't smoke as much.  Tugging it all to the daughters or laundromat seems like a whole lot of work so small loads it is.

How did you save money this past week?

Years ago after frustration of washers dying (I've always used clothes line and drying racks more than a dryer) I told Hubby the next time he saw an old wringer washer and it worked to buy it for me. Next auction he found one. I still have it, have used it for years. It sits where I could start using it with in minutes if the new one takes a dump. I think that is the only reason it has not taken a dump LOL

The arbor was a great find! I'm glad to hear that iBotta is working out for you. I'm with you on the appliances. After going through two washers in a row that only lasted five years we bought a Speed Queen. It is expected to last 25 years like the old washers. We have passed the five year mark and it is still running trouble free and it cleans so well that we are now spoiled.

Bummer on all the problems with appliances. Hope you get the washer soon. Smoking washer -scary.
Good deals you found. We hardly had any yard sales this summer. Nothing at all going on now. Amazing how you find so many in the cold weather.
Have a good weekend.

I think we must have gotten all those appliances at once. Only lasted about 7 years. Very sad it's a throw away society now.
Estate sales are so nice they go year round. We just about didn't get the arbor out of the frozen ground though ha ha.
You have a great weekend too Cheryl!

We went to an Appliance store and bought an electrolux and it's expected to last 25 years too! I hope it lasts like yours has so far. Enough of the throw aways!
