My Frugal Ways this Past week,What Was On the Dinner table and My Goals for the Week 7/3/16

Here are some of the frugal ways I've saved this past week:

It's was all about fishing this past week:

Went fishing on Tuesday with grandson to the lake by us (free)- he caught 13 little fish and he was one happy little boy!

It was the first time little granddaughter had seen a fish up close.   That's Pop and me trying to get her to touch it.

Took a picnic lunch when Husband and I went fishing up north (mainly sandwiches)  Made cinnamon rolls from a can for breakfast  (they were discounted at 49 Cents) and homemade Egg Mcmuffins.

Husband got a good sized fish and we had it for dinner on Friday! It was big enough for the two of us...youngest daughter will not eat fish.

We stopped at a few sales on the way up.  We spotted a man making and selling new birds houses for $10.00.  I needed one badly.  I also bought a canner for $5.00.  Last canner developed a leak when I made strawberry jam last week.  I have never had that happen before.  I just realized I bought the old canner last year at a sale and I'm $10.00 now into a "like new" canner.  Some brands of canners are just $20.00 brand new, so I'm getting kind of close to the point of I should have just bought it new.  Yet, I have saved $10 if this canner holds up.....

It rained finally last week and I was able to plant six week green beans in the bare spots in the garden. We needed something there that will not take long because we have a short growing season.   I also planted plantain in the herb garden.

What was on the Dinner Table last week:

Monday                  Cheesy Noodle Casserole

Tuesday                  Out to eat (pizza and fishing with grandson)

Wednesday             BBQ chicken (batch made chicken) and baked beans

Thursday                 Picnic lunch  leftover beans, potato chips, and sandwiches.

Friday                      Fish and chips  (with fish caught up north)

Saturday                   Bean, cheese, rice, and beef burritos (frozen make ahead meal)

Sunday                    Roast w/fixings

My Goals for this week:

In the garden:

Weed the vegetable garden.

Put more rocks down in the back of the house (already weeded).  Half the job is over ...We bought the rocks yesterday!  Now to just put them down.

In the home:

Clean the carpets.

Date with Husband:

We enjoyed the date so much last week we decided we need to do this more often.  With the holiday we will keep it simple and plan to go out to breakfast one day.

Blog:

Write a book review.

Keep promoting the post I wrote last week to hopefully win a trip to a blog conference called Finn Conn.
