My Frugal Ways this Past Week 3/19/17!

I bought 4-3 pound bags of apples for $1.00 each at Meijer this past week.  We have mainly been eating them but I did make an apple pie this morning.  I have to keep the workers happy (my husband and the neighbor).  This isn't the best looking pie I've made but they will not notice after I slice it.

I made a terrific pound cake from a recipe I found at A Life in the Wild.  We all fell in love with it. It was big so I ended up using the rest of it in bread pudding.

JC Penny Deals for March-Vickie's Kitchen and Garden

I used my $10 off $10 coupons at JC Penny and bought the wonderful grandson some great clothes.  I had a total of three coupons -one I got in the mail and two from when we got them at the door.  You can see the breakdown of my deals here.

We are getting milk all the time now for approximately a $1.00 a gallon.  We are making our own half and half with it every week.

The pickle bologna jar is empty now so I boiled some eggs to pickle.

I have been focusing on stocking up on things we use the most. This past couple of weeks it's been mouth wash.  I found a deal at Walgreens and bought two bottles of Colgate Mouth wash (with coupon) and two can of sloppy joe's for $3.50 with register rewards and points. Next I need to focus on stocking up on toothpaste or shaving cream. Whichever comes on sale. 😀

What was on the menu last week:

Monday          Leftover hamburger stew and grilled cheese

Tuesday          Out to eat

Wednesday      Spaghetti

Thursday         Chicken from Sam's, TGI Friday's potato skins (free), and green beans

Friday              Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mustard greens, and Irish soda bread

Saturday         Out to eat (remodeling)

Sunday           Chicken and dumplings (This is what I have in mind-but I just don't know how the neighbor will like it)

My Goals for Next Week:

My one simple goal for next week is to paint
the bedroom that we are remodeling.  I'm still not sure about the color but I have a little bit of time yet to decide.
