Kitchen Tip: How to Make Your Own Half and Half

Half and Half can get very expensive when you drink a lot of coffee like we do.  It's so easy to make so I'm not sure why we got out of the habit of making it.  Leave it to No Spend January to help us get back on track.

With the cheaper milk prices that we have right now this really helps to make this a frugal tip. We are only paying .99  a gallon! If you get the evaporated milk on sale it makes the price of mixing your own even better.

If nothing else this is good to remember in case you run out and haven't got a way to get to the store.

How to make your own Half and Half:

Ingredients:

Milk

1 can of evaporated milk

Empty one can of evaporated milk in a quart jar.   Fill the empty can with milk and combine with evaporated milk in jar. Mixing well.  We like a little more milk in ours so we fill the quart jar to the top with more milk.

I store the half and half for now in a quart jar in the refrigerator.   I used the can opener to put two holes on the lid, making it easier to pour.

An easy and frugal way to help flavor your coffee!
