My Grocery Shopping Deal(s) This Week 5/25/19!

We don't go anywhere special on Memorial Weekend but we do go to a parade on Memorial Day, plant flowers on the graves, and buy all the good deals on special for the week.  What have you guys got planned this week?

Meijer was the place to be this week to get the deals and I've been putting up and cooking everything all week long.

Here is what we bought at Meijer:

Vidala onions $2.99 a bag-

You can read my post: How to Store Vadalia Onions here.

Hamburger   $1.79 a pound (we bought 4 -4 lb packages)

Corn on the cob   10 cents a ear!   We bought a dozen to try and they were so good we are going back after more today!  You can read my post:  How to Freeze Corn here

How did you do grocery shopping this week?

We are still at the lake and going home tomorrow so we haven't done much shopping. One of our stores had Vidalia onions for 1.38 for 3#. I just got one but I am glad to read your top on storing them.

The only constant for us is that every year is different.

This weekend we have two funerals & a wedding, church & we took our grandson to the creek for an hour or two of play.

Isn't it amazing how bored we can be one minute Jeanny then the next minute everything explodes. I'm sorry for your losses.
I bet the grandson loved the creak.

Hi Vickie and the corn, hamburger mince and onions were a fantastic price especially the ears of corn.

Here corn cobs are quite expensive to buy but there are times when we find them on good specials so I will keep a good eye out for them and buy them to blanch and freeze for the future meals.

Our plans are to simply relax for a few days now we have our 10 above and below ground garden beds filled with soil and dug. Many wheelbarrows of soil went both out and in the beds with many wheelbarrows full of manures got tilled in too. Later in the week we will try and dig our garden enclosure posts in further and set up the drip irrigation systems in them too.

Grocery stockpiling -

- Grocery wise on specials from 10% - 58% off we purchased 2 small chocolates (gotta keep our shopping energy up) 58% off, 4 x packets of nice biscuits 10% off, 1 box of special K cereal 40% off, 11 x packets of pasta and sauce 52% off and 8 x 250 g Philadelphia cream cheeses 50% off saving $34.70 in total on usual prices. We used our $40 a month pantry stock up budget to stock up on all of these.

Have a great week ahead everyone.

Great deals Lorna! Chocolate that's what I need too!!! Garden can just wear you out. We need energy for sure. The rain here has forced us to relax but the minute the clouds leave we are out. I can imagine with hauling all that dirt you need a good few days off.
