We wore ourselves out

Yesterday, we worked quite a bit outside.  We got busy and trimmed the rose bushes, the rest of the Lavender bushes, and the wild thing that grows around the crabapple tree. The grandkids helped us work by taking all the sticks back to the garden to burn later.  The youngest sees her big brother working and wants to help too.  Of course, there was payment involved so they both got to work fast!  Sometimes I give them incentives and sometimes I just ask them to help.  They never know which one it will be.

Today, I'm finding it hard to move!  ha ha

Shopping

We haven't done any shopping for awhile.  Daughter is getting low on TP and we are getting low on Milk.  I'm giving daughter some TP this morning and she is ordering me some milk on her pick up order on Monday.  Yes, it takes 5 days for a pickup date.  It's crazy.

Husband is worrying about his milk.  We have some powdered but he is trying to avoid that till he is desperate. The man just needs his glass of milk everyday (sometimes 2 or 3 times)!    I just need my chocolate.

We hope to eventually find toilet paper but right now we are all trying to avoid getting any germs.

I'm going to take the weekend off and I'll see you on Monday!  Please stay safe and well!  Don't be ashamed to put on a mask if you have one and use some gloves if you do go out grocery shopping.  We have decided when we do venture out it will be just me because he is older ha ha!

Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know how things are going in your neck of the woods.

I went grocery shopping yesterday to Aldi & Walmart. I went in the morning & Aldi was well stocked & almost empty but when I left the parking lot was filling up.

Our Walmart is doing pick up. Each day they open up 6 hours of pick up times...I don't know how many per hour. They disappear quickly. I have filled my pantry well at this point & am planning not to go back out again for at least two weeks.

Have you thought about canned milk? You may be able to get it mailed to you. I bought a flat of canned milk before the rush in case we couldn't get it by the gallon. With a two year old in the house we're going through quite a bit of milk. And they waste so much food! We used to finish his meals if he wouldn't so as not to waste food but we don't want to do that now & it is so frustrating to toss his leftover food.

I planted a little lettuce, onion, radish, chives & nasturtiums this morning in hopes I didn't wait too late for my area. We'll see if it's a total waste of time or if I'm just feeding the wildlife.

We got a grocery pick up yesterday, but it wasn't ready when we got there and we had to wait another hour until it was ready, but I was very grateful for what we were able to get. :)

Oh my goodness Belinda that was a long wait but I'm glad you were able to get something!

I have canned and dry milk and I made some this morning for recipe use. He doesn't like the taste of it but it will come into handy and it won't be noticed in recipes.
I'm noticing the food waste more too. I guess you can try and save it in the fridge for a snack for him later.
I'm glad you planted and I hope that you get something!

Hi Vickie,
Thanks for keeping up the blog, including the Kindle books! I hope you have a good weekend! We hear that stores are beginning to be better stocked. We are staying in due to age and health concerns, but have been blessed with wonderful neighbors who have picked up a few things for us. We also have a good pantry and picked up a some items we knew we might need or want before things got so crazy. Our garden is all containers. We have green onions, peppermint and sweet potatoes growing pretty much year round. Have some lettuce growing now, too, but it won't withstand the heat. We picked the last of our grapefruit, along with some lemons and oranges from our neighbors. We sent the grapefruit and part of the lemons to the food pantry. I've been juicing and freezing the lemons and some of the oranges. Wishing everyone well during this stressful time.

Sounds like you live in a wonderful area! I can feel the warm with Just from your comment.
I haven't been in a grocery store for a little while but the parking lots look so much better after the stay at home order. I'm glad to see that too.
