Update on the Vegetable Garden: The Good and the Bad!
The good is always a great place to start!
Between the heat and the rain my garden has exploded. Everything we planted has come up! We even have a bonus of weeds!
The pumpkins the kids planted are up and rolling. I'll have to make sure to show them today.
Not everything grows perfectly in a garden. There will be life and death just like in our lives. This year we've had a little bit of problem with the cabbage. Something is eating and stripping them down. Bug or animal or maybe both. I've looked and can't find anything on the leaves. They don't seem to like anything else, the lettuce is beautiful out there. Look beyond that though and you'll see my white half runner green beans coming up so pretty. No I don't worry too much about straight rows. Pretty soon you won't be able to tell where these beans were planted.
To the side of the picture you can just barely see my potatoes coming up. We planted 5 rows originally but we had too much rain. Three of the five rows rotted. We are so happy that two rows are out there surviving and thriving!

Your garden looks great, Vickie. How exciting that everything is coming up thanks to the rain. My grandpa was a big gardener with at least three huge gardens. It is a lot of work but so worth it!
I've got the bonus of weeds too. Sorry about the cabbages and potatoes. I know that is discouraging. Something ate my flowers, zinnias and marigolds of all things. I need to groundhog and deer proof my raised garden.
Hope the grands have some pumpkins and the rest of your garden thrives.
Sometimes I think how hard those old people worked on their gardens and wonder how they did it. Have a great day Belinda!
Well I didn't think about things getting eaten in a raised bed too. Nothings safe from those wild animals!
The garden looks great! I miss having a garden. Maybe I will get some seeds and have our grandson plant them and we'll watch them grow. :-) Have a wonderful weekend!
They love it...I think the pumpkins are a lot of fun for them.
Nice size garden. I hate to weed and I don't recall the name but it was a weeder 0n a long handle like a shovel and it had a square shaped piece of metal and it rocked back forth never had to bend over. I use to be so picky I even measured inches. Then one day I just didn't feel like gardening so rows were not straight! I realized I got just as much out of crooked rows and straight ones.LOL. Weather here just can't make up it's mind, cold hot rain geeze just be stable.
Sounds like a very handy tool ! We have a small tiller so we are going to get after those weeds after our nap haha!
Our weather is so crazy too tealady. It went down to 48 degrees the other night. Still not the warmest..I pretty sure we will have a heatwave in a few days.
