Two days in a row I tackled the file cabinet looking for the fridge papers.  I found a variety of different papers but not the one I needed.  Looked up from my desk just now and there it was sitting out right where I could get to it fast, on the top shelf.

Well, I got rid of a lot of papers that shouldn't be in there anyway and that was so interesting.  I found the carpet papers.  You know, that was our #1 goal this year, new carpet installed and painting the walls.  We had that carpet installed..in 2000!   Oh my goodness 20 years ago.

My excuses:  At first I was nervous about Covid and having workers in the house.  I got over that and we had the bathtub installed. Now, we have grandchildren having school in the living room everyday.  There is no time to paint.

I finally figured out ain't nobody going to see it anyway.  We will get it done!

What's going on in your neck of the woods?

We did seven rooms of flooring about 5 years ago. It was like moving! The master bedroom has hardwoods so we put everything out of the other 3 bedrooms and bonus room except the large furniture on our bedroom. We barely had room to walk through to the bathroom and the bed. At night I kept thinking that the piles were going to fall over on us! We also did two bathrooms and the laundry room. I would not have believed how much stuff had to come out of those rooms too. The bedrooms and bonus room get so little use that I don't think we will ever have to do that carpet again and the rest of the house is hardwoods. But, I am with you this year, no one is going to see the messes and stuff we did not get done. Well, maybe if the kids do get home for Christmas we will end up with a lot to catch up on. I wanted to completely redecorate the living room this year with new furniture and everything. We have not even done one thing except pick up a bunch of paint chips back in February. Oh well. I used to say tomorrow is another day but now we must say next year is a new year!

I would love to have hardwood but our floor has a bump in it. It would be cleaner for sure.
You are right Lana it will

Two of our bedroom carpets are original to the house...1970s? The master was put in in 1989. Our floors in the main living area were in super bad shape by the time we replaced them. I had to mop my kitchen by hand gently with a rag because pieces would come up every time I tried to clean. Oh it was so hard to wait for it. But I remembered what my mom had to live with...we could see the crawl space under our house at one time.

I was hoping to paint last spring but of course it did not happen. I'm hoping when my son goes to days I'll be able to start painting again. I'll only have my grandson 3 days then...but that may not be until after the new year.

There is always something to fix..and then you have to fix it again. There is nothing so scary as to see the crawl space from above!
I think this weekend I'll paint that space above the tub he drywalled. You've inspired me to get moving.

I am busy writing and watching hummingbirds. Hubby put the feeder right outside my office window. I love the hummingbirds! :-)

Our house had hardwoods, the real old fashioned kind, when we bought it. We could not afford to put it in the other rooms but it sure would have been nice! Tile would have great in the bathrooms too but once again way too much money. I was just happy to get rid of the horrible stained carpet and vinyl that would not come clean no matter what we did. We just did a basic carpet in the bedrooms and vinyl in the baths and laundry.

Yes our carpet is definitely stained for good! I tell you the truth real old fashioned hardwood is so pretty to me and durable!

Oh that sounds wonderful . We have hummingbirds here but I have a hard time attracting them. My cousins in the South are good at it.
