Haircuts

During the worst point of the covid, when the salons were closed, we decided that we would just cut each others hair.  Listen he had to wear a hat for the longest time. I thought though he did a pretty good job on trimming my hair.  It stayed in a ponytail so it really didn't matter.

Finally, we got our hair professionally cut. I had mine layered and trimmed.  I have some pretty thick hair and it was looking a little wild. So, I'm finally feeling myself. I had to laugh though because the stylist said it was an inch shorter on one side than the other.  She just smiled and fixed it.

Of course, the poor man after they got done looking at it, they did the best they good.  They said to let it grow, come back more near Christmas, and  they could fix it even better.

The youngest daughter decided it was time to trim hers too.  Her hair grows faster than anything I've seen.  They cut 13 inches and she still has shoulder length hair.  We are mailing the hair out today for donation.  They gave her a free hair cut for donating (Hair Cutz).

Listen people, we cannot cut hair so please wear a mask and wash your hands frequently, that way we can continue getting our haircut somewhere besides home!  Now, don't give up..really we are all getting tired of it.  I'm getting tired of it but in order to stop the spread we can't lose sight of a wonderful ending that is sure to come!

Preaching is done.

Glad you got to go to stylist. Can't even begin to remember last time I went to a salon. I have been cutting my own and used to hubs too for decades. Practice makes perfect!!!!

I had to chuckle...but I know, it's really not funny at all. Hating our hair is just one more thing that makes this so hard.

I changed hair stylists during covid. My old salon was one big open room with 5 chairs & people coming in & out all the time. I never liked it but didn't think there was a choice.

Then I decided to go to the stylist my son & his wife use. She'd been cutting my son's hair since he was around 14 & she was still in high school...her brother is a close friend to my son. She cut his hair for free until he got married & he didn't want her giving free haircuts to his whole family.

She rents a room in a salon. So there is only the customer & the stylist. She thoroughly cleans between customers, just like at the drs office, & people wait in their cars until she calls them in. We both wear masks the whole time except when she goes around my ears. So I feel very comfortable using her. The down side...She charges a good $10 more plus tip if I give one. I hate the cost of a hair cut.

My husband is taking a week off work the first of November & he wants me to buzz his head his first day off. To give it a week to grow a little just in case. I've been doing ok cutting his hair but the poor man is going bald in spots but has a good amount of hair right on top so I don't know what to do with it. The back & sides look good. the front ok. So we're going to try this. He says he's never going to let anyone else cut his hair again....bother! I feel like I need to go to salon school!

(Vicki, I try to be conscious of your time & not write a whole letter each time...please don't feel obligated to respond to my every comment. I so enjoy the interaction but I do understand you have a busy life.)

I love your comments! The children are all gone for the day so maybe we will take off and do the date thing. We moved the couch back this morning and cleaned underneath. What a job.
I wish someone would have taught me the basics of hair cutting for such a time as this. I think it's just like homemaking so it should be taught to me by someone.
Dad though always went to the barbers so there is that. Obviously mom didn't know how either.

I'm glad you found a place your comfortable with..it was only me in the salon so I was happy about that too.
Have a great day and good luck cutting your hubbys hair.

Wow! This column is the best! I laughed and read the last paragraph to my husband. I've always cut my husbands hair, but I let mine grow until this summer. When I did go again and she used the hand hair dryer and blew my hair dry, then I heard that spreads germs so maybe I shouldn't have done that. Have you heard anything about that? Enjoy your weekend!

I love that Kathy! You are a survivor for sure. We mailed her hair out this morning. I'm going to tell her your comment..I know it will make her feel good. Have a great day.

So you know you had me googling and I guess it's just a like a bathroom hand dryer...a little germy. So umm..something to think about. This is the first I heard about it though so before I go again I'm gonna find out about this whole thing. Wow thanks Nancy for bringing to my attention!

Isn't funny that I never knew it. Well now it's fixed I'll probably wait awhile till I cut it again.
