Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Today I'm busy cleaning house and I have decided on the menu for Christmas dinner. It really wasn't too hard because we basically have the same each year. By the way if you have company coming and you need to clean a messy house fast I have some helpful suggestions here.
Just in case you wondered what was on the menu Christmas Day:
Ham (covered with pineapples and brown sugar)
Au gratin Potatoes
Shuck Beans
Corn (I bought and froze this summer)
Rolls (Hawaiian Sweet Rolls)
Dessert
Apple Strudel (I just take puff pastry and put apple pie filling in the middle -wrap it up pretty then bake)
Coconut Pie
The best part of Christmas though will be watching the grand kids open their presents! I get to spend a lot of time with them this season .. we will have a lot of great fun together!
I hope you will have a joyous Christmas!
I'll be back on Saturday!

Your menu sounds delicious. I love puff pastry. I like using it for pizza & I like baking eggs on a small piece for a special breakfast...I may do that for my Christmas morning breakfast. I keep some in the fridge or freezer.
And thanks for the company tips! I'd decided to let my house go & relax on my days off....but then I find out just yesterday that for sure, we have friends traveling from Wisconsin for this weekend. Sooo I have to clean. Thankfully I haven't been too lax recently & I'm not doing any cooking for the company...they will cook for themselves in their rv & not use our bathrooms or anything. And since it will be in the low 60s the day they're here we'll enjoy a meal outside on our screened porch.
You know they sound like some good people coming your way. I think you'll love having them there and will miss them when they are gone. I think I would love that! Have a nice visit!
We are under lockdown in my province but as a single person i am allowed to bubble with one other household. Luckily, I have a single friend who lives just downstairs in my building so she will make us a ice breakfast at her place and I will do dinner.
Apt. is cleaned - turkey breast is cooked and sliced but turkey legs will be prepared this afternoon. Stuffing and turnip are already cooked - potatoes and carrots are peeled and brussels sprouts are in the freezer. Trifle is made for dessert and there is fruitcake, mincemeat tarts and chocolate biscuits ready to have with tea afterwards.
I have woken up early to about 4 inches of snow so Yeah to a white Christmas! I am just about to set the table and finish wrapping a gift for my friend and then I'm set.
Have a very Merry Christmas.
Margie it's still good to hear from you! Still snowing here so We are getting our White Christmas too.
Your dinner sounds so wonderful..and I'm so glad for your friend. Friends are such a blessing.
