Here are the ways I saved this week:

I make sure to look on the clearance racks every time I shop at Meijer and this week's find was low carb tortilla shells for $1.64.

We sold a item on Facebook and hope to put a new one up today.

I made a roast and use leftovers for beef stew.

Now that I think of it we didn't eat out for dinner once this week...I need to change that soon!

We are going to pick up a load a wood for $40 when the husband gets up and I tell him about it.  It's like he knows, so his sleeping longer this morning!  ha ha.  I'm sure he will approve!

How's it going in your neck of the woods?

I told you about my freebie stamps & ink pads.

Other savings...My dil gave us leftovers & we had three days in a row of free suppers plus two lunches. It was all so very good & I still have two servings of one of the soups she made stored in my freezer.

Some big savings on some building we've had done. We had to build a new well house because of termite damage. Because the job was so small the builder gave us free insulation, free tyvec wrap & covered the soffits for free. He had the supplies stored in his warehouse. It wasn't enough for most of the jobs he does but our building is very small so he gave it to us to get it out of his way. We just paid for the labor.

We also have a little storage building we had them reroof. The roofer made some serious mistakes...actually nailing through the shingles leaving holes in them. So the contractor has agreed to reroof in new shingles when warmer weather comes at no extra cost. He has the shingles on hand so it will just cost him the labor. Apparently the roofer he hired chose to roof on a cold day without the contractor knowing....crazy.

So it looks like we've found a very trustworthy contractor to call for small jobs. They are so hard to find.

You were blessed for sure this week Jenny! Sounds like you've found a keeper for the contractor. Your so right about them being hard to find.
We are hiring the same worker this year who did our bathroom to drywall part of our living room and resurface the fireplace. I do dread it but he was so precise in his work ..perfection is worth the mess. Lots of work in this old house.

This week is kind of a blur with the mess we are in and no stove. But, we have only had food from out three times and the project has not hit any road blocks so all is well.

Oh man your doing the kitchen! How You made it only getting food 3 times out I'm not sure! That's really good!

Surely, I have saved a little bit here and there--LOL! I finally remembered to cut off the little hot water heater downstairs. My granddaughter had been living there for almost 2 years and she is moving out. She has been coming and going as she moves all her stuff out, so I'd forgotten. There is still hot water in the kitchen and one bathroom, if she needs it. No sense wasting the electricity on the other hot water heater. My daughter gave me a pint jar of ham and vegetable soup that she made. I added some shredded carrots and some cabbage and made it last for 2 meals. It was very good. I bagged up some bulk dried cherries into 1 cup portions and put them in the freezer. BTW, I order them from Michigan. They are so delicious and last me a very long time. I found 3 wrinkled apples in the back of my refrigerator drawer. I cooked them up with brown sugar and cinnamon. Yum! That's all that I can think of. Keep warm!

Question about eBay: have you linked a bank account with them since they are breaking away from PayPal? I can’t bring myself to do it!!

Vickie @Vickie's Kitchen and Garden said...

I haven't been on Ebay in a little while so I didn't know this.
We never did put that cup up for sale that we found in the cupboard. I don't believe I could do it either. Hopefully there is another way.

I’m hoping that enough people will refuse, so they will have to keep the PayPal thing going.
